Default Anyone change their exhaust tips?

On my IS,I had a Tanabe axle back which had nice SS tips.
I want to stay with the stock system quietness but would like stainless tips the style of the Tanabe's..

I was going to do the exhaust thing, but the Tanabe set up didn't look as good as another exhaust I wanted (Greddy SP2, not to mention they don't make it for the 3GS.) Then I thought about tips, I had access to a welder and could do all the work, but it was more of a hassle because the stock ones look pretty nice already. The only problem I had was that they were too inset into my rear lip and all this condensation of water/gas/soot would kick out onto my rear lip, which in turn made it look dirty.

Sooo I did a search on CL and read up somewhere how to remove the tips. I took a piece of wood and wedged it on the back of the tip and between the muffler and hammered a few times. It came off easily, so I then just put it back on (some force was needed,) but I left it set out a little further, so it looks nice like stock now.

Like I mentioned,I had the Tanabe on my IS.
A nice system but even though the system really isn't loud,I'd like to keep it stock quiet but want a better tip look.

Wow!
That's probably all I would have to do.It's a nicer look. They stick out as much as the Tanabe did on my IS.
I'll try that this week.
Thanks.

Just tips here also. I couldn't deal with the drone that you get with free flow exhaust. As Rominl suggested, most muffler shops have a great variety of tips. Just look for double walled, stainless steel.

The tips can go out further, but I didnt want them to fall off. lol They are held in by a clip, but not anymore. Still sits on the exhaust piping snug.

My personal opinion is if you aren't getting a new exaust system then don't bother. Just changing the tips appears a bit cheese ball and obvious that you went the cheap route. Regardless if you don't like the "drone" of a full system or not. Just my 2 cents...

^ Disagree ^ but oh well
There is nothing to do with "disliking drone" and "cheap route tips" I purchased HKS Hi-power and both wife and I did not like the drone, we sold the HKS and now I have a nice tips with OEM mufflers.

exactly. having only tips is not the same thing as having cheap knockoffs.

Why not get tips from Borla? The 2GS guys have been doing this for years.

Here is your change for your $.02. In my personal opinion these lighted tips are cheese ball:
