But you can fit all those baby seats and a dog in a minivan, I guess the price of gas havent quite affected you yet

My point is that 1/2 of the GX or SUV owners out there dont need a SUV, and then there are some who really need one to tow or go off road. If you take away the luxury SUV market's demand by 50%, what do you think will happen to the price.

Wow - it strikes me that you have the potential for a really interesting perspective on Lexus dealer markup.

So, you traded your GX in and followed its sale (or non-sale so far) over 5 months? Or am I misunderstanding that?

If so, how much did they give you for it and then turn around and set as the sale price? Did they certify your GX?

yes, it was a 05 GX470 and they did certify it. I got $31500 for a trade in value and about 2 weeks later, it was on the dealer's website for $38500. The price got discounted twice already. I just check their website, it just came down another $2000, it is now $34500. I guess they really want to get rid of some of their used SUV inventory. My understanding is that if a dealer have to hold onto a used car more than 6 months, they will just wholesale it out and try to break even.

Last bit of advice, a rear drive gs300 is barely adequate power, but awd makes it a bit slower, and ends up being a dog. Anyways, shop around, you will find what you are looking for, gas is going up, economy is poor, these are luxury vehicles and prices will continue to fall.

Hey thanks for the advice, the guy is actually moving out of the country in August so i'll just offer 30-31 k for the car and if he takes it he takes it if not then ill just keep looking for a gs 350. Another piece of information is he bought the car with 10 k miles on it from the dealership.

I would say keep searching and good luck on your search. I had searched for a 3GS for more than 4 months and probably test drove 10 or so GS300 in the process. Once I drove the GS350 I knew that's the one. I'm fortunate to have scored a nice deal too. It's a higher mileage ('07, 36k miles), but it's in good condition and I already put in another 3500 miles in 2 months. I got mine at $35900 out the door (or $32700 + CA tax/license).

Patience is the key.

$32,700!

Just a crazy-good price!

That's got to give bigalexus and xxlbeerZ encouragement that they can do the same

I just paid 29,700 for an 06 GS 300 AWD, NAV/ML with 21k miles on it. Clean Title, one owner car fax guarantee. Car was in mint condition, all I need to do is replace tints in the rear windows and supply my own mats, but who cares at that price right?? !!!!

That's a sweet deal.
I think I could get one for that price, but with no ML or NAV.

This is the best asking price I've found so far on a CPO:
*Nevermind, went to get the link and it's already gone in two days! Price was $32,900 for a CPO with 30k...

Then there's this guy down the street from me who wants to deal:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ice=&cardist=0

I think I can get him to $28k. However, it was a demo for 14k, so I'm afraid it's been too ragged.

I'm not in a hurry, waiting for just the right car/deal. I want the car to come out to $31k with tax, so I need to keep it around $29k. I would like a CPO, but the dealers around here seem to charge a lot for it, considering its mostly just a warranty.

Why not just but it directly from the dealer auction? There are people who will do that for you for like a fee, thats the best bet. Oh and btw, mine was not CPO. You dont need CPO if you have such low mileage. CPO give you 3 years 100k warranty, but at the mileage you and I are looking at, you will still have 2 years left on warranty with the 4 year 50k. Think about it.. is the 2k extra for CPO really worth it just for the extra year of warranty?

I can't really find as good of a deal on one.

For the $6-7k in savings by buying the 300 I can get rims, coilovers, and a stereo.

Does the 350 handle better than the 300? I hate the handling on this ride, but not like I plan on being agressive with it, but its just too plush on turns. This was purchased for a different type of drive anyways.

350 handles the same as the 300. If handling is important to you, maybe you should get some coilovers on it or buy a Infinity.

If you don't care about the less hp, the 300 is a better deal. Personally, if I want a car for speed and hp, I'm not buying a GS model Lexus. I also think CPO is the way to go, but that's just me.

Alright after some searching i found a 07 gs 350 with 19,500 miles navigation and Mark levinson. They are asking 34,800 that sounds like a good price to me after looking for weeks. Let me know what you guys think, the car is also in great condition if not excellent and has a clean carfax report.
