Default Well the Dunlop run flats are off and

the Tire Rack tested best for ride and quietness and Tire Rack comsumer survey #2 tire in the Grand Touring catagory, the Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity Technology are wonderful.
A nice smooth and quiet tire compared to the run flats.I'm very happy with the move to this tire.

I just test drove the GS460 with the run flats and they were very choppey, not too harsh or jarring, just choppy.. The AVS was pretty nice.. I didn't feel a huge difference in power as compared with the GS350, but the handling was nice.. Overall I'd say just put coilovers on a GS350 and you are good to go, not to mention you save about $7k.. Sorry to get off topic, the run flats really need to go.

Joeb, do you find the new tires smoother over bumps?

Yes,especially the small bumps where the RF would give sort of a thump.
These tires seem to absorb the bumps much better.
Haven't been on a highway yet to check on quietness at 65+ MPH.I'll be on a highway later.
Seemed quieter at 45-50 MPH,tho.
The Ultra High Performance all season catagory tires would be better than a RF but these tires have softer walls which aborb bumps and such better.
Yes,you lose a bit of handling but I don't believe the GS is really a handling car anyway.

I got rid of my Dunlop run flats after two weeks in my GS450h. After I put Continental ContiExtremeContact on my car, it was like I got a completely new car, again! It's like comparing apples and oranges...

Joeb427,

What size wheels are you rolling with? Are the sidewall height of the
Bridgestones noticeable/significantly higher than the Dunlop RF's? I have those tires with OEM 18" wheels (swapped out for my '06 AWD). When the RF's go (only 1 yr 8K miles on them (new from the Lexus, a year ago, it's a long story), I plan to switch over to non-RF tires with the hope of eating away at the dreaded AWD wheel well gap. Have you changed your springs?

Stock 225/50-17s.Dunlop RF and the Bridgestones are both 50s so they're about the same height.
The non RF ride is much better and quiet.
50 series tires will give you a smoother ride than a 40 series but less handling.
Stock springs.
