no one said the gs350 isn't quiet and smooth, i think it is. but the 460 setup is just that much better
i didn't switch. i bought the ls460l last aug, the gs350 last nov, and sold the ls460l early this year.
depends on what you want, but you sort of hit it. the gs is a lot more fun to drive, more sport, more feedback, etc... but the ls460 is far superior in terms of refinement, smoothness, quietness, gadgets, space, luxury, etc...
to me, i just feel i have more fun driving the gs.
What made you switch from an LS460L to a GS460? Would you mind giving me a comparison of both? Unless you've already posted it somewhere - than can you give me the link? I'm really curious about the difference in ride and quiet within the interior between both models.
I'm guessing the GS is a much more "fun" vehicle to drive.. Any differences that you can tell me between the two would be greatly appreciated. Of course, besides the obvious.
Thank you...

Okay. As far as I'm concerned, the leather in the GS350 is just as good as the leather in the 05 LS430 that I drove for about a year.. To me, that's good enough..
Now.. I see 0-60 and the 1/4 mile are just about the same in both the V6 and V8 GS.. I'm guessing the biggest difference in power will be more noticeable from 100 mph and on.. Correct?

Obviously the LS460 and GS460's engine are very similar other than the HP deficit on the GS. The 8spd tranny is very seamless and smooth. Power delivery seems to be about equal between the GS and LS. The LS is obviously a lot smoother with the suspension. The GS460 I drove had APSSS. It did make a significant difference in the turns, but my GS350 with Tein CS coilovers handles just as good. The APSSS is notable in hard cornering as it does stay fairly flat. The GS460 I drove with the APSSS had the Dunlop runflats which drove nice, but a set of summer tires or the 18" OEM Michelin Primacy HP's that came stock on my GS350 would probably handle much better.
GS350 vs GS460. The window sticker on my 07 GS350 was just under $52k. The GS460 had a sticker at about $62k. The largest difference btw my GS350 and the GS460 was the obvious powertrain/tranny choice, the $3k option APSSS and the Adaptive Variable Suspension. The rest of the car is identical. The GS460 is smooth but not by much in comparison to the 350. Performance i'd have to say is equally identical from a standstill if not slower in the GS460. The GS460 shines downshifting into the midrange power on the freeway. I feel the GS460 feels a bit sluggish from the first 3 gears, but when it gets into 4th, it feels strong. To be honest, both GS460 and GS350 sound very very similar in a weird way from the inside. The exhaust note is a little more prominent with the 460 at cruising speeds. I have a Tanabe exhaust on my GS350 and the sound is very similar but obviously a tad louder from inside the cabin. Mileage. Obviously this is where the GS350 has an advantage. I average 27-28 mpg consistently on the highway with no problem. In the city, I can obtain 23-26 easily with the occassional WOT sets and majority on ECT NORM mode. With the GS460, city driving only got me about 18-20mpg in ET NORM mode. Which feels faster? The GS350 does feel a bit faster from a standstill. The GS460 feels slow initially until it gets to 4th. The GS460 is a great choice, but the $10k premium to be honest is not really worth it. Like the 06 GS430, the 08 GS460 has ECB - brake by wire that was developed by Bosch. It is very touchy until you get the hang of it. Braking power btw the GS350 and 460 are identical. The GS460 makes a very slight insaudible groan after a few seconds after depressing it. I believe this has something to do with the system checking itself after every stop.

Comparing LS460L and GS460, both engine's delivery felt similar, although I do feel GS460 sometimes hunts for the right gear, even though it has the same transmission as the LS460L. LS460L also feels soft with poor road feel, GS460 is better in this regard but I don't like the run flats that came with the car. In fact, GS460 feels very stiff when going over potholes and rough roads, very un-Lexus like.
As for interior, LS460L feels more refined, with better isolation from the outside. The stereo is great, better than GS but that is to be expected. In general, I think both car's interior are great but they doesn't feel special comparing to some European cars.
I have not driven a GS350 yet although my friend has one so I think I will try it one of these days.
