Going to a dealer soon, anything I should know?
Hi all,
I never leased / finaced a car before. Hence, I dont really have much experience in that area. All I know is that dealers have their interests and I have mine. If I'm going to buy the car within the next couple of months, then I will be getting 2008 model and dealers supposely getting 09's in Fall ? Does this effect the price of 08 models at all ? Also, the current economy is in bad shape, should I expect any deals ? And should I mention any of it to him / her ?
And the last questions, what are the chances of me getting the car for less than $50k w/ all taxes ...ect ?
Thanks

I was going to wait for a '09 but the '08 just recieved a refresh.I'm thinking the '09s will be the same and the '09s will have less of a discount. My trade would have went down too.
However, gas cost is high and getting higher and the economy is tanking which is trouble for automakers and more so for luxury automakers.
Dealers may be willing go $500 over invoice or less on '09s.

Sniiper, history tells us that the GS discounts are consistent off MSRP irregardless of model year and timing of the new model year, one exception was the 07 GS in 06 for a month or two....08s had similar discounts as 07s even as they first arrived at the dealers....and there was a minor refresh. 09s will have same discount as 08...the demand for this vehicle will not go up for an 09 model, so discount will be same.

Get them to throw in the clear bra on front and mirrors...now is the time to really press for extras as the demand for these/any vehicles continues to drop.

Usually the lexus dealers dont stock that many GS, so what ever 08 they have left over in a few months will not last for too long. I would say the 08 will be a few hundred dollar difference, but not by much. Almost not worth it if you consider the trade in value down the line. You should be able to find a GS for less than $50k including tax.
