Is the GS350AWD worth an extra $17K?
Thinking of buying top of the line ES350 or top of the line GS350AWD.
When comparing the features, it all boils down to the fact that I am paying an extra $17K for AWD (it snows in Canada) instead of FWD, 31 more HP, fancier braking and steering systems, power folding side mirrors and a few more minor features. Of course what price do I pay for the prestige of a GS over an ES?
I can afford it, but am I crazy to spend it? Anybody have this dilemna when they bought their GS?

Hello,

You are right, the word is prestige plus sporty suspention and more horses.
If you get ES, the word Camry will follow you anywhere you go.
If you get GS, Supra (grandfather) is always with you
I have had several Camry cars, after getting GS dilema is gone
Just my two cents

Why shortchange yourself your already paying so much, if your keeping the car for more than 5 years GS all the way!!!!
You should ask ES350 owners what they would choose!!!!
ES350 is a great car but the GS is just more fun!!!!

IMO, if you are going to get an ES... you might as well save youself additional $17k and get a CAMRY!!!

That would make a good bumper sticker " Not your grandfather's Supra "
My 1st SUV, take both car out for a long test drive. After both test drive, if you cannot tell the difference between the 2 cars, then get the ES. The GS is a totally different car from head to toe. Much nicer driving dynamics and higher quality all around.

Depends what you want. I've gotten to drive new ES loaners from my dealer and they are stereotypical Lexus - like driving your living room couch (except the seats really aren't that comfy IMO).
I much prefer the GS as a driver's car, as much as a Lexus can be a driver's car.

I moved from the ES to the GS ... indeed, night and day type of vehicles ... both are great in their own merits ... that being said, I love my GS and absolutely believe it was well worth the price premium ... and yah, although the Canadian prices have significantly improved over the last year, they are still hugely different than our cousins to the south.

Only test drove the GS350AWD for about 15 minutes, but had ES350 as loaner for over two days (RX maintenance, plus multiple "little things"), and maybe it was because I had the ES "too long" but I would go with the GS over the ES. The GS interior just felt more luxurious, while ES was nice, but it just didn't feel right. Plus, the GS350AWD I think is AWD biased towards RWD 80/20 or something, and then goes to 60/40 when slip detected. I could be wrong. Anyway, for $17K more, if you're keeping for long run, you won't miss the $17K.
