Default Looking to buy an 06 lexus - questions?

Hi first time poster, and I know I will get a biased opinion (and partially why I am posting here) BUT...
everything I am reading on the Infiniti m45 sport for 06 seems very positive. Also given the great depreciation that happens, the m45s are about 7-8k less than the car I am looking at, the GS430? Any thoughts here? Personally I think the GS looks nicer and I have yet to drive the m45 (will do so today).

Also, given the rougher economy, looking for a car with about 25k miles, what do you folks think I can get a CPO for, before tax and title? I am hoping low 30s. Anything from a throw-in perspective that I should be pushing for?

Thanks so much the help, and I hope to post further on hopefully a new gs....

I think the GS looks nicer too--inside and out! I just barely considered Infiniti. I drove 2 (a G for myself and a Q while my father was shopping - no M, although I did a walkaround on one)...All nice cars. It boils down to personal preference. Infiniti is going to have its fans and Lexus is going to have its own as well.

I was seriously looking at RLs and I felt the Lexus CPO program was the best, but my father was offered a pretty good sounding package on the Q, so I guess I can't say that Lexus is better than Infiniti. It's definitely better than Acura's program.

I think you're going to find GS430s with ~25K to be in the mid, mid-high $30s...going into low $40s sticker price.

Regarding the economy, the segment that includes the GS (midsize premium?) isn't necessarily suffering the same as other segments. I don't know what extra you can look for on a used car.

For 7-8 k less, I think the M may be a better value....I like the GS looks better but I think the M is definitely a better performer...
here is something you can look at

The GS does look a lot better. Something looks odd with the M wheelbase being too short for the body, stare at it from the side/profile.

The M is actually a much better buy for 8K less. It may not look as nice but their 2 year old cars has fewer problems. The M will handle better and get worst gas mileage.

I went and drove a 2006 GS300, 5 series, and M35. The M35 interior seemed so much better and spacious than the GS.

I still think the GS looks better outside, but you spend most of the time inside. Also, Infiniti has 1.9% financing on CPO to go with the savings. For the price of a stripper GS get all options (5.1 DVD, MP3, Back up cam, adaptive cruise, etc.).

However, the M does get poorer gas mileage, and I trust the Lexus brand more. Also, the Lexus dealership was a pleasurable experience, whereas the Infiniti experience felt like I was buying a Hyundai.

Waiting until the end of next month when the leases hopefully start coming in to check out 2007 M35 vs. the more fair comparison of GS350.

Decisions, decisions...

Still shopping, huh?

1.9% is a good inducement.

What's the warranty that's included with Infiniti CPOs?

If you like the interior on the M best, that would seem to seal the deal

Yeah, I have a 3 series to drive for a few months, so no hurry to find the best deal.

6yr/100k

The only thing I find lame, is that on all of these "certified" cars I can find plenty of obvious flaws (i.e. GS broken tail with water in it, second GS minor wreck in the front, blown speakers, shoddy interior, M35 with bad sounding motor, etc.). I thought CPO meant they were tip top used cars, but I now realize they're just selling me a warranty. On some cars that weren't advertised as certified, they even offered to certify the car if I wanted them to.

Guess I had CPO different in my head after how heavy the manufacturers promote it.

You should buy a Hyundai Genesis for $36K.
