Default 53K Miles and still have original brakes...

Had the dealer check them and they said that there are 6mm remaining on rear and 4mm on front - so they don't need to be replaced yet. I do lots of highway driving so that is why I have not had to replace them with this many miles...how many others are out there like me?

Mine where done just this past weekend. Had 26k on them. Mostly city driving. They were replaced for free under the excessive brake dust TSB. The dealer told me the pads had about 3mm worth of material left, and that at 2mm, grinding of the rotor begins.

Lexus brakes do well with freeway/long distance driving. On my previous 04 IS300, I put about 95k on the front pads. The rear pads went out first at 80k. The rotors were in great condition and were turned. There's no need to change out rotors unless they're warped.

Can anyone tell me if the TSB on the brakes is effective after the factory warranty expires (like mine since I am over 50K miles)?

Thanks.

LOL

I learned that trick to, I let them bring it up, i take it in and say the brakes dust to much and then next time I say it squeaks to much and if you use different dealers...lol

Just a funny neat trick that costs lexus money!

Doesn't quite work that way because all Lexus service departments can see your service history. It will show if a TSIB has been performed or not.

I know that but thats a personal story, I might have got lucky but it was funny when he offered it to me under warranty and I was like no its ok and then I was like warranty order it!

Luck!

I have to change my brakes cause of all the track days that I do, see how long this trick lasts!

you won't get away with the squeaky excuse, unless it really squeaks.
they will test drive it to see if it is true.
