Lexus vs ML Audio

I have to agree with the original poster though, i'm very disappointed in the stock GS system. I hook up my ipod and I have the volume on my ipod pretty much turned up about 85% of the way (don't put it to 100% because it starts to sound distorted). I have to turn up the Lexus volume up to about 50 to 52 to actually get some good sounds, but it still doesn't have any punch or loudness that it should at the high of a volume setting. Same thing goes for my CDs and the radio. My Audi A4 with Bose sounds about 10 times better. That's my main gripe with the GS so far. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING.

the aux ports on the new lexuses produces poor sound from ipods. i knew that when i played with the ES350 aux port.
however, mp3s burned to cd sound decent on the stock GS system.
i sat in a 2007 g35 once, and played with their new fancy shmancy bose on wheels, and wasn't impressed with it. didn't sound spectacular to me....

For me, unless I am watching a movie or listening to concert type music, otherwise I do not use the surround sound mode. Using surround mode means placing voice mainly on the center channel.
While on the subject of stereo system, I am curious on why B&W only placed one speaker on the dash of the Jaguar XF. The rest are in the doors, wonder how they achieve proper front imaging....Anyone here have driven or got a ride in the XF?

Actually the ML in the RX improved 10x better from our 2005 RX to the 2008 we have now. The RX's ML in the 2005 severely lacked bass. For 2008, it was fine tuned and sounds 10x better than before.
My favorite ML systems are in the LS and the LX for obvious reasons, as they are the Reference Sound systems. I actually like the ML system in the IS more than my GS. go figure.

I heard the ML in the 08 RX, sounds worst than the ML in GS, about as good as the stock in the GS. The stock in the GS does lack some power at the high end, if you like your music loud, you need to get the ML. And why does people compare optional Bose system to Lexus stock system, compare the Bose to the ML in the LS460 and the Bose system dont stand a chance.

Just don't plan on having Sat then. I purchased my GS350 with the I-Pod interface kit installed, and had them add XM. Only during installation did I find out you can't have both! I'm working on compensation for that.

I would glady have paid the extra for the ML, but out of 20 GS's, only 1 had it.
Anyways, that and the Nav features locked out while driving are my only gripes - awesome car!

It's not just my ipod though. The sound doesn't sound good when listening to CDs or the radio either. It's the overall sound system.

It is nice to hear if 130 watts in the GS is good for you.
I understand wattage (1W = 1N x m / s) since I have a MSME. Original post stated to turn volume up to hear the detail, which is the clarity. I just don't remember I have heard an excellent car audio system with only 100 plus watts output. This is also my subjective opinion...

Actually, one Watt in electrical term = voltage times current. 130 watts is good enough for everyday listening, but if you like your music loud, then you need more power. The point I was trying to make is more power does not always mean a better sounding system.
