Thinking of moving to the F side !
Hi all,
For the past couple of months (Since I drove the IS-F at the Lexus performance Driving Academy...), I got that itch back again, you know, the one make me look at 400+HP sedans with envy... Today for some reason it hit me: the real reason why I lost interest in my GS, the design:
(From top to bottom: 2006+ Lexus GS, 2009+ Nissan Maxima, 2009+ Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn Insignia, 2008+ Jaguar XF, 2009+ Acura TL).
Many new cars are coming with very similar design cues, this is indeed a testament to the quality of Lexus design, but I do not want my car mixed up with a Nissan or a GM.
Given that I got the GS450h for the performance, not the fuel economy and that the IS-F do not get a too bad fuel economy with the 8 speed tranny, I’m thinking of moving to the F side.
What you guys think, is the GS design so good, it became the wannabe looking good car design reference, killing the exclusivity of the Lex ?

I looked into the GT-R, a lot, I can't get over the fact that Nissan stealerships are asking 20k to 30k over MSRP right now, it will take few months for this to stop. The other thing with the GT-R is that you will create a mini riot everywhere you go, and I'm not really down for that, I'm more a discreet kind a guy.
Other options considered:
No, my ideal car will be a Maserati Quattroporte GT-S (the limited edition), but at $140k and a with crazy fast depreciation I will wait another few years to sell another company before I got one !
So for now the IS-F seem to be the most sane option...
Other options considered:
- M3, very nice, I love the red interior and CF roof of the coupe, but the sedan look sedate and the lack of torque and high revving engine makes for a great track but somehow less street fun machine.
- C63, not for me, no more Merc for me.
- RS4 a friend have one, so that killed it.
- I really like the S5 but it is too down on power and very hard to find without markup.

The ISF seems really great but coming from the GS, I don't know. The small size would get to me after a while. You can make the GS a better handling car but you can't make the ISF a bigger more comfy car.

Plus the IS-F does not have the $2k Gas guzzler tax.

I completely feel you on the styling of the GS. Being copied makes it less special to me as well. I also got the 400+ itch after taking the F around the track, but I cannot make it my car...too small.
Considered a CLS 63? I am
