Will Sirius work on a 2006 gs300?
I am just about to pull the trigger on a nice gs300....barely used......I hav Sirius hooked up in my ls400 currently..will all this new technology and Nav allow for Sirius to come through direct......I guess I mean is it pre-wired to come through on the nav screen? or something similar?
Any guidance here?
Thanks much and keep up the great work on this forum

yes it is. the tuner/module goes in the trunk and the lead wire has to be run to the front and attached to the back of the navi head. the antennae can go a lot of different places. not surprisingly, i think you get better reception mounting it on the outside.
if you have a choice of tuners, ask about display characters. i only get 10 letters of artist/song title. new tuners show 16 i think. i used to believe the 10 character limit was due to my navi system but i installed the vais ipod adapter and it diplays 29 characters on the screen. it's the sirius tuner/module that has the limitation.

I had port installed Sirius in my GS350 and the reception was absolutely terrible!!! It would cut out with clear sky above me ALL the time. My new CLS with the shark fin antenna has much much better reception.

No dude, im not talking cut outs. I am talking no signal for 20 seconds with clear sky. The reception was absolutely terrible. It is the windshield mounted antenna and it sucks.

ok dude. i think eveybody else stopped using those triangle windshield mount antennaes a while ago because they are terrible. even the dealers are using the smaller puck antennaes now and they don't go on the inside of the windshield and they work much better. inspector, if you want sirius, get it and use the puck antennae. on open road it will be fine.

I've heard the same thing. tho was told there may be some limitations on the crossover. ie uncertain if howard stern will be heard on xm. I believe they are going to offer an ala carte sort of service where you can pick x number of specific channels for a set monthly fee (rather than get the whole lineup). that, i hear, will require a new style tuner.

I have rented cars with XM and Sirius for my drives from TX & SC to NY and I seemed to get better reception with the XM signal. Since I got a car of the lot that already had an XM installed I am going to wait to activate till they get things figured out and offer the Sirius stations on XM. I suggest you wait 2 to 2 1/2 months when they have the merger situation figured out. Don't spend time and money on something that you may not need or will be outdated in the near future
