Default Brake Pad Life and 15k service cost...

How long to the pads on the GS usually last? When I had my 10k done I had 8mm left, and I was just wondering what I should expect to get out of the pads before they need to be replaced. Also, I am approaching 15k miles and I was wondering what I should be expecting to pay for the 15k service?

Brake pad life is too variable for anyone to accurately predict how long yours will last.
I paid about $400 for 15K service.

Yeah, $400 seems like a bit much, what did you get for your 400?

YMMV as others stated. I have almost 32K on the OEM pads and rotors, and tmrw. the car goes in for new front rotors and front pads, and new rear pads... I am going to see if I can get another 6-10K+ out of the rear rotors before needing to replace them as well.... tires are also due for replacement soon, so this is an expensive quarter for me LOL....

What a rip off!!!! You have to come down to Ray Catena to get your service done. Beside oil change (usual $57), you just need ac cabin filter replacement (5 minute DIY with $30 filter you can buy on-line) and tire rotation ($15 at any service station). During the oil change they go over the inspection check list of recommended factory scheduled maintenance anyway which you can find in your manual. If you mention that your brakes are squeaking, you will get a free brake inspection too

Thank God to 2 deposits (ES350 "buyback" and GS350 "current") I put down on my Lexus credit card, I earned enough points to have free oil changes up and including 30k service which is coming up soon...

I have been wondering if I should bring my car back to the dealer for major services. I got new front pads and oil change from my local mechanic for $190 when I got my car at 36K miles. Genuine parts, but there's so much brake dust from the pads it drives me crazy...

I guess I won't need to bring it back to the dealer until 60k?

$400? I hope they change your signal light blinker lubrication fluid for that price

I don't see any reason why you could not do the 10K or even the 15K service posted on the chart yourself (except maybe the high speed balance). Alot of it is added work that is not even required by Lexus.
As for me, I don't have the time or the desire to do any of it. I know the service department and they have always done a good job. I drop the car off, get a loaner, pick the car up at night. I know the work was done properly. I don't mind paying for that.
