Default GS350 Pricing + 07 CPO vs. 08 new

Well, I have to make a first post somewhere, so I guess it will go here. Try not to hurt me too bad...

I am in the market for a new car and am considering several options (Lexus GS350, CPO 06+ SC430, Infiniti M, Infiniti G37 sedan (new)) but am leaning towards the GS350. I have been looking over pricing and it appears that I am being quoted decent prices, but I wonder if I can do better. It should be noted I am in Atlanta. Also, I am questioning whether there would be any merit in buying a CPO 2007 model. From what I can tell, the only option that I lose and care about would be the aux audio jack which I can make up for with an iPod adapter. From searching inventory online, it seems like there is barely any difference in CPO 2007 pricing and what I have seen for new 08s.

As far as the car goes, I want a RWD GS350 with all the options with the ML audio being the only thing that is up in the air. As I see it now, I can take it or leave it.

Here are the prices I was given. Obviously these do not include tax, title, and that lovely documentation fee.

Level I - 18" wheels/Wood steering wheel/DVD Nav with camera/ventilated seats/rear spoiler/rain sensing wipers/rear sunshade
MSRP: $49,710 PRICE: $45,000

I was quoted $46,500 for the same car but with the ML audio and the parking assist.

How do these numbers look to those of you in the know? I figure there is $1500 or so left to come down. Is that way off base?

Any help is appreciated. I am really enjoying digging through the posts here - very informative.

Let me do the homework for you . According to Edmunds, the invoice price for the 1st GS is $43600, plus about $700 for Lexus advertising fee, that comes out to $44399. The 2nd GS invoice at $45400+$700=46100. So the 1st car is $600 over invoice and the 2nd is $400 over invoice. I would say you have another $500 or so to play with, thats about it.

Good Luck

Thanks - I had looked at the Edmunds numbers. When I bought my G35 coupe, I paid about $500 under invoice. I was not sure if the 08 GS models were going for at/above/below invoice yet.

i just bought my GS350 a few weeks ago. live in northern california. before TT&L and other fees, my best quote was for $43300 for ALL options in your package above PLUS preferred accessory package and illuminated door sills.

i ended up getting it with all those above PLUS ML and parking sensors for $45k flat. i had 2 dealers going back and forth in bidding against each other and they were both competitive in that price range. negotiated for a good 2 weeks.

so yeah, i think you have more room to negotiate, given that toyota sales are down significantly. but not sure how it holds up locally in your area. when i requested for quotes across 6 different dealers, the other 3-4 dealers around here said they could not compete against the top 2 dealers that quoted me with those prices.

45K with all options including ML is starting to sound really good!

Anyone think I could find a killer deal on a CPO 07 or 08? From looking around, it just does not look like the price drop is enough to go the CPO route.

I got mine for 45300 with no ML system. I used my costco card and it got me the car at 1200 over invoice. Not to bad considering that the mark up on these cars is usually 5-6k. I think your getting a good deal. try to beat them up on the price. all dealers are hurting right now, even lexus. I would really beat them up and drag it out.
