for those that got it replaced, was there a compromise in braking performance? i think the stock FRONT brakes are "high friction" pads, which the manual says don't last as long, but provides superior braking performance.
for those that got it replaced, i'm assuming they used "regular" pads vs. "high friction", thus resulting in little or no dust.....but did you notice a compromise in braking performance?

I don't feel any difference in braking with the low dust pads.
Toyota is very safety minded and wouldn't want any lawsuit payouts. If there was any significant difference in braking, they wouldn't do the pad change.
I've had the pad change done on an IS and now GS and love having less brake dust.Well worth the change for me.

I would say there is a little difference in everyday driving, not as grippy as the high friction pads, but still very good. You just have to get use to it and apply a tad more brake pedal. In emergency stop situation, its about the same.

On the low-dust pads, contrary to the consensus here, there have been other threads over the past month where people who got them noticed a significant decrease in braking - it kept me from asking for the change at 1K.
On the runflats, thanks for the advice to go to Lexus, since got nowhere with dealer.

Uggh, so, I'm the original poster, and the dealership was unable to remedy the rhythmic noise coming from one or more of the tires that sounds like the rhythmic noise that 18-wheeler tires emit. I elevated the concern to Lexus corporate and they said my vehicle is performing within standards. Lexus corporate also refused to replace the runflats because I find the ride very harsh, jarring, and unLexus-like. I informed them that other GS350 owners (on ClubLexus) were able to have their runflats swapped out courtesy of Lexus and I was told that Lexus has never done such a thing and that I have been misinformed. My case manager said that Lexus would never swap out factory spec tires since the vehicle is designed specifically to operate on runflats and that doing so could lead to safety issues. All BS. I'm extremely dissatisfied. Why am I getting the run around and is there anything I can do? Others have clearly gotten their runflats complimentarily swapped out, and mine are even making 18-wheeler noises, lol.

Trouble with runflats
Wow !!! Sorry for the bad customer service you are getting from Lexus. Certainly not a "the customer is always right" response that you would hope for after spending $50K+ for a car. I had heard about the tire problems before I bought mine (late May) and made sure my car had the Michelin summer tires. They were a $870 option, but I am definately happy with them.
I presume that with run flats you have no spare tire. Does that give you more trunk room or is there just an empty space (under the mat) where the spare would have normally been?
