Iwould give you a heads up that even when my mirror motors broke they replaced the entire mirror. I dont think they are going to come apart or go back together very well. Thats a very exspensive part to be screwing with. I wouldnt touch that mod with a 100 ft pole. to much risk and almost unoticable difference

it's LED on 2008 GS, not sure about previous year.. but should be the same
194 lightbulb on 2007 IS, so i assume any year b4 that is lightbulb too

The mirror part actually pops off from the bottom first. You need to use a wide thin pry to pop the bottom out and then it slides down from the top to come out. You will see the internal parts of the mirror along with the light at the bottom.

How I know this....
When my mirror was sticking the dealership repaired them instead of replacing them. They forgot to pop the passenger side back on correctly so it almost fell off. When I inspected I saw exactly how it attaches.

well if its like the 2IS, I would assume it is, Its a plastic shell (outer cover) and there are 3 phillips head screws behind the mirror. The mirror pops out (2 clips and white caulk like material hold it on) From here you can change that cover if you want turn signals and to drop the puddle light also.

I plan to do this on my car (Turn Signals) so I will post a full DIY if someone hasnt already by then. I probably wont do this till the spring time with other things more of a priority at this time.

you cannot buy pieces of the mirror so that may explain why they replaced the whole thing. the mirror parts are like legos and snap right back into place. im not afraid of doing mods. sure it can be expensive that why im extra careful.

reason for this mod.. you may ask? to incorporate the 2008 blinkers to the pre mirror blinkers, 06-07.

It seems like to much risk and work for an insignificant mod imo. To each his own but I wouldnt touch that mod( if you would even call it a mod) with a 10 ft pole

i think he's confusing the flood light with the actual turn signal.

the turn signal is LED, and the flood light on bottom is incandescent bulb or whatever.
