Should the 4GS be designed as a "four door coupe"?

That's what I said....I think it already has that 4 door coupe design.
I would love to see a real GS coupe though. Can you imagine a big GS-type coupe from Lexus. Something to rival the CL??? I would be jumpingfor jof. Especially if it stays in the current price range. I would buy one NOW!

the current gs is small imho but it's nothing like a four door coupe like the cls or other cars mentioned here. the lines are still too much like full scale sedan.

I actually think they should correct the headroom problem of the 3GS when they design the 4GS, & make the profile of the roof less coupe like for better rear headroom.
I do support the idea to make a seperate GS-based 2-door coupe though.

How about the front headroom, they need to work on that too. I dont get it, other sedans with similar height dimension have more headroom, where did all the headroom go in the GS? Maybe the floor boards are too high?

I am like 6"1 ish with hair, and i still have plenty of room on top

The GS has tall sides and short a top...sort of like a chopped roof. Doing a coupe-like effect on a sedan seems to cause reduced headroom all around. The CLS looks the same way. If it didn't have the tall slab-sided body, there would be plenty of headroom.

If my GS handled like my previous BMW's, I wouldn't care what its designation was. Admittedly, I knew going in what the differences were, and I chose the GS because I felt it was the better overall package. However, I miss the BMW's handling more than I thought I would, and will most likely have another in the future.

I think the 3GS is already a bit of a 4-door coupe with the way the roofline goes. The 4GS should make it go a bit further with better performance and handling.
I've driven my friend's 2GS400 and it is way better in performance & feel to the 3GS. I've always had BMWs (and I still do) and I felt the 3GS to be a bit too soft, that its softness does not go well with its swoopy styling. Everyone who commented on my 3GS think it looks very sporty, but driving it feels more like an LS. I had a previous generation ES330 and I felt that car to be much firmer and sportier in its handling despite that being front-wheel driven.
So, there you have my opinion. The 4GS should lean towards more 4-door coupe styling with firmer suspension and feel to go with the styling. That should make it more different than the rest of the Lexus line.

I think the 3GS is loosing sales to the ES350 from non-enthusiast buyers looking mainly for feature content, comfort and luxury. IMO Lexus needs to aim the 4GS squarely at the sport sedan buyer in terms of performance, ride, handling etc. It needs to be differentiated a little more from the LS and ES.
It is not just the steering. It is the overall handling balance, firmer suspension, and road feel without being harsh. It is also the feeling of being connected and at one with the car and the feeling of being in control. Even the IS don't compare with the current-generation 3-series (I know because I've driven both). I've always had and still have BMWs. I went with the 3GS because I wanted something more luxurious for a more relaxing drive with my family. With the BMWs, I get an adrenaline rush and I tend to drive faster than I need to.
