I am looking at buying a 2007 GS350 that was a Lexus buyback. It has 9900 miles, Nav with Mark Lev, sunshade, cooled seats, parking sensors. I spoke with my local lexus dealer and they said it was bought back because of a intermittent warm misfire but also said that the problem was never duplicated by any service tech and they couldnt find where any repair was done. It is my understanding that the car would still have the balance of the factory warranty excluding any problems with a misfire. Kelly trade in value is around 32k in good condition. Any one have any suggestions on what a good price would be? Anyone ever heard of having this problem before? Any help would be great.
PS I am buying this from a auto auction so I will be paying close to wholesale.

If someone when through the trouble (coz' you know it was trouble) to get the car buy back by Lexus, you know there was something very wrong about the car. I personally will steer clear of it. It may seem cheap today, but it will be a major time and money expense down the road.

The thinking about a possible problem and the aggrivation if the problems return just isn't worth it,IMO.

Thanks for the replies!
The dealer I talked to said that the buyback paperwork said it was for "intermittent warm misfire"
If Lexus corp is selling this vehicle at auction wouldnt they have hopefully fixed the problem?
Also any idea on price?

I would have no problem with a buyback for rattle issues but anything with the engine....no way in heck. The ES300 we had could not be fixed. Lexus gave us a good deal on the next car and took back the ES. I asked what they were going to do with it. They said they would sell it at action. without fixing it?! I was appalled but at least it wasn't my problem anymore.
There are too many cars out there to buy one you know has a history of issues. Especially an unresolved issue.

No matter how Lexus or the Dealer wants to spin it, 'intermittent warm misfire' doesn't sound encouraging. Sounds like the previous owner had issues with poor mileage and/or sluggish acceleration, and the Lexus techs can't fix the issue. If Lexus could fix the problem, the car would be put into their CPO inventory and sold at a nice markup. My gut tells me that this car was damaged by flood, hence sold at auction where Lexus or the dealer has no liability - walk, no run away as fast as you can . . .

The main problem is that they are refusing to warrant the car related to the problem it was supposed to have (misfire). So if/when the problem occurs again you would be on your own. If Lexus could not fix it, I dont think you can find a cheap independent garage to fix it either.

I am just assuming that they won't warranty anything related to the problem. Anyone know how I would go about getting more info on that matter and also more info on the reason for the buyback? The service rep I talked to today was helpful but she also seemed confused on the matter also.
Thanks again for the reply!

First of all, if Lexus never duplicated the problem, they would have never bought the car back. Secondly, if Lexus couldnt fix it before, what make you think they can fix it now?
