Default 2007 GS 350 Starter solenoid noise?

2007 GS 350 Starter solenoid noise?

I've looking at posts, any new ideas on intermittent start up noise right after starting.

I would describe it as sounding like the starter solenoid sticking for a second after the engine starts.

Thanks for your feedback!

i had the same problem for about 6 months and couldnt get the dealership to fix it. in the "Search" function on the 3rd Gen GS forums, you need to type in "engine noise of startup" and read all about it. 1 guy even recordecd the sound on video and put it on Photobucket so you could hear it.

to make a long story short, after multiple visits to the stealership and crazy fighting/convincing to get them to do the Service Bulletin they did the TSB and its fixed now!!! try to get em to do the TSB if you can. its gonna be hard cuz it costs so much but try.....it'll fix it. its common to IS350's too BTW.

heres the # TSB: L-SB-0009-08.

Man, what the hell is up with Toyota and their starters. They should of put more thought into it. I would of thought they fixed the probelm in their newest generation of cars, but apparently not. Starter failure is extremely common in the 2nd gen GS400/430 and basically across the board of V8 Toyota UZ engines. I have a 2002 LX470 with about 30k miles and the starter is on the fritz already!

although Toyota may have issues with their starters.....this particular issue isnt the starter at all.

the "noise on start up" Sparkplugis referring to is actually due to these engine oil filled hydraulic actuators mounted on the end of the camshafts. like i said before, search the forums for "noise on start up" and read about it. the starter on our Lexus's are fine to my knowledge.

Just got my toy back from dealer for "TSIB EG7027 ENG KNOCK @ COLD START" and "TSIB EG020-07 UPDATE VVTI ACTUATORS".

For TSIB EG7027, they replaced the followings:
-gear assy, camshaft;
-gasket x 3;
-gasket, timing chain;
-gasket, camshaft bea;
-insulator, fuel pump;
-gasket, cylinder hea x2;
-gasket, air surge ta.
Hour: 6.0

For TSIB EG20-07, just software update.
Hour: 0.0

For all these, take about 6 hours to do the work !!!

Correction: TSIB EG020-07 : BRIEF ENGINE KNOCK/RATTLE NOISE AT COLD STARTUP. I could not find software update TSB. In my case they did only EG020-07.
