had a full brake job done Mar 2010 10k miles ago at the lexus dealer and the squeaking is back. it happens at low speeds like in drive thrus or when we back out.

below are the parts that were installed.

can anyone tell me if these are the tsb fix???
Front:
04465-30410 PAD KIT, DISC BRAKE
04945-22152 SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEAL

Rear:
04466-30210 PAD KIT, DISC BRAKE L
04946-30110 SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEAL

All rotors were turned.

thanks in advance,
JD

I have had my front pads and rotors replaced twice under warranty. Once because they wore out to fast and the 2nd time was for the insane noise they were making.

Funny. The more I think about my service experience the more I realize that my GS is nicer than G35 but not really that much less problematic

so what is the TSB # that applies to low dust and no squealing? I'm having squeaks coming from my low dust brake pads now. They have about 8300 miles on them, but this is totally unacceptable and I want to be able to tell my service advisor I want the dustless/squeakess brake pads installed as a TSB. If someone has the PDF, that would be awesome too!

Thanks

I took in my car for this tsib and the service advisor said that since my brake pads are low I don't qualify for this tsib . my car has only 27k miles . is this true ? if my brakes are low they wont change the pads ?

Johnson Lexus in Raleigh just told me that my brakes are at 50% and I would have to pay $153 to have them changed... What is the purpose of a TSIB?! Isn't it the acknowledgment of a problem or defect? The cost for the pads on Sewell is $75... I'm waiting for the service manager to call me back.

Guys - only in my attempt to offer some assistance with what I've experienced, you must be mindful a TSiB is just support memo that helps a technician resolve a customer concern. In this case, the bulletin in question offers insight to what is to be replaced in the event brake squeal occurs. Brake pads are a wearable item and generally not covered under a warranty.

Front Brake Squeak (2WD) - L-SB-0015-09

I hope this helps,

I had my front brake pads replaced free of charge twice at my Lexus service.
First replacement at around 24K miles for excessive dust & squealing noise.
The new pads didn't cure the squealing noise, but reduced the dust a lot.
Second replacement at 32K miles on Apr 2009, according to TSIB squealing
noise. Rotors & pads were replaced according to the TSIB.

Now at 48K miles, the squealing noise happens again, but only after I parked the car for a few hours and applied the brakes on the first roll.
The problem sounds like dust got accumulated in the pads and caused the noise on the first brake. After that, no more noise.
I think the only thing to fix the squealing noise is a re-design of the caliper.

The TSIB specificially states the repair is covered under Basic Warranty (50K miles/4yrs). So if the problem is repeatable, it should be repair free of charge as long as it's within Basic Warranty coverage.
