Did the search, can't find it. My 30k service is coming up in a week. I will replace cabin filter myself, and tire rotation is not necessary since my original runflats will be replaced soon. I assume the other necessary things are oil change, air filter change, and brake fluid flush. Is there anything else that I'm missing? Anyway, so I was curious how hard would it be to replace air filter in 3GS? Since I never done this before, what kind of tools do I need and is there detailed instruction somewhere?

I haven't decided yet. I'm not really into performance mods (like K&N) but rather in longevity of the part
Will change to a standard one. I probably should take an engine cover off myself just to see how easy stuff can be removed from there. I'm OK with electrical mods, but never touched any engine parts before. Don't want to screw it up and dealership later telling me something went wrong because of my mistake. But than, I hear its such a simple change that I don't want to throw away money paying for dealership labor... If its like you said in PM a few hex keys, maybe I can handle it?

FYI - changed the oil and filter, and rotated the tires last week. I bought the oil filter from Lexus for $8 plus change. Called a local Toyota dealer, and they had the same filter for $3 less. Next time...

Are you talking about oil filter or engine air filter? Do you know the part number of air filter? The last time I ordered cabin ac filter online from Lexus, it arrived as Toyota part

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I am having trouble: I have removed the clips that hold the intake to the filter housing and exposed the filter, however, I cannot seem to lift up on the top portion to get enough clearance to change out the filter! What am I doing wrong... I'm afraid that if I lift up or pull up any harder, it will break something (I have a GS460). There isn't even enough slack to get the side of the existing filter completely exposed.... any ideas????

If you look 2-3 inches to the right of the air filter housing, you can see a silver metal band. Loosen that by the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. With you right hand, lift the right side of that metal band. With your left hand, grab onto the upper part of the filter housing, and pull it out. The two should disconnect where the metal band is at. It's very simple once you've done one.
