Default The Dealer Got ME!!!

My car has told me that I need to replace the battery on my fob. I was in the area of my Lexus dealership so I stop to get two batteries. $44.00 later I walk out. Not knowing much about batteries or the fob, this must be special batteries for $20 each.

I get home ready to replace my batteries and they sold me the wrong batteries. I am about 40 miles from my that dealership, so going back was not an option... YET. I search the net and see the the correct battery Panasonic 1632 cost $4.99 at Radioshack.

Needless to say, I will be returning to the stealership to get my money back.

That's not entirely surprising. It's just like the dealerships selling the replacement key for over $300 when you can buy the same product, I mean the SAME product through Sewell for a fraction of the cost.

yea i made the mistake too of having the dealer do mine for me. i didnt feel like stopping and doing it and i was already at the dealer. cost me 10 bucks and they put it in for me. meh a tad over priced but whatever i was already there.

$20 for a batt? damn, what a STEALER-ship. i've always been getting my batts from radioshack. recently just changed my batt from the 2nd key fob. never gonna go to stealer-ship if it's not important.

Holy crap! I did the same thing with the dealer ship in Portland, OR and they only charged me $5 per battery, replaced them for me, and brought me a cold glass of water.

FYI - the battery for the SmartKey is a lithium CR1632. I just got some off ebay, 5 for $6 shipped. . .

I cant believe that they charged you for them. My batteries had to be replaced 3 times, because I was having an ignition glitch that would lock me out of the car. I took it and they replaced the batteries 3 times before they actually replaced the starter. They shouldnt be charging you for that. The longer I am on this forum the more I feel that service departments for lexus in AZ are stellar compared to some of the crap situations I have heard about
