Default Offset Question Help

I've searched, but couldn't find a clear answer. Will a +35 offset on a 10" wide wheel work on the rear of a 3GS RWD? Thanks

+35 offset on a 10" wheel?? probly not.

the offset that people are running on the rear wheel of a 3GS is in the high +40's and even the low +50's.

i think a 10" wheel with a +35 offset is too aggressive. it also depends on the tire your running, what size wheel, and if your lowered of coarse. you can probly get away with it if your not lowered but it may look like crap cuz it'll stick out past the fender and look like a rollerskate.

Sorry. Forgot to mention they are 19" wheels. I was thinking of putting NF210 springs on down the road

10 with low 50s, that's pretty bad offsets on the 3gs, it's way too conservative imho. even mid 40s should do fine on the car unless you put too fat of a tire

10 +35 with 275 tires is on the aggressive side, but they should fit if you do fender mods

Thanks guys. So do you think I would have to mod fenders w/ 19's if I don't lower? Will it look dumb with the wheel sticking out too far?

Yes, don't do that. Do it the right way, or you may regret your decision (you'll be doing a lot of this ---> See rominl's signature for guideline)

this is my logic

it looks silly if you put wheels on but not lowered the car --> lower the car is a must

19x10 +35, unless you do fender mods, more than likely you will rub. how much fender mods to do, that's a different question of course

and yes, if you get that wheel and not lower, the wheel will appear sticking out. and it won't look good. trust me, i know how it looks coz' my car was like that for about 3 hrs (the time i put on the wheels to the time i put on my coilovers)

what size tire are you planning to go with?

Using this website/tire calculator here and the OEM 245/40-18 tire with a 45 offset as a reference (assuming that there are no problems with clearance on both sides with this OEM wheel/tire):

a 255/35-19 inch tire on a 10" wide rim with a 35 offset yields this
-speedometer will be 1.2% faster.
-suspension will be 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM)
-fenders: Package will stick out 15 mm (0.6'') farther than OEM. Acceptable for most cars.
-wheelwells: Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 4 mm. Almost no difference from OEM.

now a 255 tire would be better suited to a 19x9 or 9.5 rim.

If you bump the tire up to a 265 which is better for the 10 inch rim them the whole picture changes.
-speedometer will be 2.5% faster. (most tire shops won't mount the tires if the difference is > 2%.)
-suspension will be the same
-fenders: Package will stick out 20 mm (0.8'') farther. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider narrower tires or higher offset.
-wheelwells: Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 8 mm. Acceptable for most cars.

check out that site, pretty cool.

Thanks steviej here is what I got. The tires will be 30 series not the 35 I think you were using. So it looks like it might work for me after all?????

Wheels:_______Wheel 1__________Wheel 2
Wheel size_____18x8 ET 45_______19x10 ET 35
BackSpace_____159 mm (6.2'')____174 mm (6.9'')
______________________________15 mm (0.6'') deeper.
Rim Lip________________________35 mm (1.4'') wider

Tires:_________Tire 1___________Tire 2
Tire size_______245/40-18_______265/30-19
Section width___245 mm (9.6'')___265 mm (10.4'')
Sidewall_______98 mm (3.9'')____80 mm (3.1'')
Tire diameter___653 mm (25.7'')__643 mm (25.3'')
______________________________10 mm (1.5%) shorter.
Rim sizes______18x7 to 18x9_____19x8 to 19x10
Circumference__2050 mm (80.7'')__2019 mm (79.5'')
Revs per mile __784.9____________797.1

Speedometer - Assuming that this is OEM tire and speedometer readings are correct. When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 59.1mph (95.2km/h): 1.5% slower.

Clearance:______Package 1_______Package 2

Suspension _____________________Assuming that this is OEM wheel/tire and there is no any problems with clearance on both sides The same.

Fenders_________________________Package will stick out 20 mm (0.8'') farther. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider narrower tires or higher offset.

Wheelwells______________________100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM)

Would 19x8.5 +35 (front & rear non-staggered) with 255x35 tires have any issues on a GS350 RWD dropped on TTE springs? The drop is about 25mm. I know its conservative but its a daily driver (mostly the wife). My only concern is the offset.

fender mods meaning modification to the fenders in order to fit wheels or to eliminate running. this includes and not limited to:

1) taking off the plastic trim along the fender edge
2) shaving the fender tab
3) shaving / cutting the fender lining
4) rolling / pulling the fenders

if go crazy there are quite some other stuff that can be done.
