its easy to do. just get the kit and dive into it. you will wonder why you waited so long to have lights at night.

unless you live in a area that is prone to FOG go with 6k for your HID fogs.

Hey Guys,

Do any of you that have installed one of our kits in the fogs have any pics to share?

It might be easier to describe with a pic vs text =)

Sorry - I had the dealer do it, and while I watched I did not have the presence to snap some photos....

So if I want to upgrade fog lights with HID bulb, I will need to get a full kit with ballast. How about if I just want to make fog lights brighter without adding ballast? Can anybody recommend which replacement bulb I should get? I assume it will have to be compliant with OEM electrical requirements. I’m just looking for a quick/cheap update, nothing HID-fancy

if you want to stay in spec, you can't really get any brighter halogen, that's what it is, spec. if you want brighter / whiter fogs with halogen you need to get higher power ones

exactly. The last thing you want to do is get higher wattage halogen bulbs as they will damage your vehicle.

Of course, I understand that. Drawing more juice through the wires can burn them out. Maybe its my imagination, but I could of swear reading a post with detailed instructions and pictures how to replace HID fogs and someone else in there mentioned about getting aftermarket bulbs ($7 each) that were a little bit brighter. Don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on the full kit, yet.

The question though is whether they just look a little bit brighter due to a tint or are they actually brighter (more lumens).

halogen and brightness just shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. For the same wattage, there is just almost no way that the aftermarket blue tinted bulbs are going to be brighter than the stock. Most just do it for looks, there is a reason why the most useful color for fog is yellow, for that greater contrast.

Most people that changes the bulbs run higher wattage but risk of potential damage, just don't be crazy and put the 100W in there and have it melt your housing.

You are going to put a $7 bulb in a $50000 car, come on, you are going to melt the fog light housing. Spent the money for a good set of HID or get some high performance bulbs that are 55 to 65 watts, no more than that. Some good bulbs are silver star untra, phillips ultra vision, Hoens and PIAAs.

pretty much what i'd say. if you really have to stay with halogen, bump up to 65w max, and get quality bulbs otherwise you regret later

I just doing my research, and remembered a post where someone mentioned about $7 bulbs. I used that number as a reference, not as my budget for upgrade It doesn't matter how much, I'm just trying to find out what is a spec and what is a reasonable upgrade of just a bulb and not the whole HID setup. Hey, I put $40 K&N engine air filter into my $50k car, and can appreciate that upgrade

With my luck, just like when chipmunk got under the hood and stuffed my whole A/C path with acorns, they will get under the bumper and chew through ballast wiring That is my main concern, not the price. I actually see that Xenon Depot running $199 special for HID kits; that looks very tempting. If I decide to take that route, I should probably match fogs with yellow 3000k kit (9006/HB4 for 3GS)? But for the bulb only replacement, what is the max safe spec (W) and what are the good places online to order it?

That Xenon depot kit a quality kit and a good price at $199. A good halogen bulb will cost you $30 to $60 a pair. If you plan you keep your car for a long time, then get the HID, because it will last much longer than holagon.
