Default Replacement of rear view mirror

When I first got my car the passenger rear view mirror would not adjust up or down so I took it to the dealer and they replaced the entire assembly under warrenty. Now the driver side mirror has the same symtoms. I called my service adviser at Hennessy Lexus last week and he stated he would order the part and call me to set-up an appointment.

Well its been a week an I have not heard from him so I decided to call parts to see if they have it in stock. It would be replaced under warrenty but was just curious of the part cost. The parts guy stated they now sell the housing and the mirror seperately. Housing= 537 and mirror=364, labor is not even included with those quotes.

It seems like its a common problem with the GS so just as a heads-up, get it fixed before your warranty expire.

Oh still no word from my service adviser so thats the last I would use him if he does not call by Friday. The last time I used him I give him great reviews on his survey. Wish I can take it back now

I just had both side mirrors replaced on my 2 year old GS. Prior to the replacement the mirrors would almost never return to the appropriate position after tilting down for reverse. The new mirrors work fine, but the mechanic who installed them scratched them up. The dealership ended up repainting my new mirrors. They gave me a free service for the inconvenience.

I haven't gone through the entire owners manual yet, so could someone please tell me how to turn the tilt-down feature off in this car? It's actually more intuitive on my MB, and Acura to turn it off than this one. Is this one of those personalized feature that must be set at the dealer?

Just press right or left mirror button - whichever is currently on one more time...

i wonder if you can just grease the gears in the future.

i hate these things that are guaranteed to break after warranty, and end up costing 2 *********.

like vladbph said, put the mirror control to NOT be in either L or R

this is a "common" problem among all lexus, in a sense that i have seen it in all lexus but not like everyone i know has this problem. i just pray mine break before warranty expires
