Photochromatic mirrors
These are a nice option but, in my opinion, are too dark for regular night time driving. I turn this function off everytime I do night driving, except for the occasional times there are glaring lights from the rear. Does anyone know if there is a way to set the "off" position as the default mode? Thank-you.

wonderful feature, even when I had 20% all around.
Doesn't it just stay off when you hit the button? or does it turn on each time you start your headlights?
If it does, it is within the mirror, I guess you could open the mirror up and snip or disconnect the wire that turns on the fad option, but again, I don't knwo why'd you do that as it's a nice feature.

it comes on every time you start your car. i also think it's too dark and i hardly ever use it unless i get glared on
if you take off mirror you can see the power line going in. however, disconnecting that will also take out the compass. so it's not as easy
me? i just press on it every time i start my car. routine

I agree with the OP that this feature is unnecessary if you already have tint all around. I also wish I can turn if off by default just like my previous car, the Acura.
The reason I do this is so it doesn't blow up in 4 years. Yes, there's a long thread in the Acurazine forum where members experienced this. It blows up, and the chemical leak down to the wood pieces below discoloring it. Yes, we're talking about different car makers, but I think the concept is the same with mirrors.

I haven't come across any posts on CL regarding exploding rear view mirrors. If we can assume that Magna Donelly has fixed the leakage problem back then, there shouldn't be a problem of that happening now. But that begs the question: does Lexus use Magna Donelly mirrors, or are they produced by a different supplier?
