Default thinking of getting a 06 gs300

well im in the process of selling my c5 corvette and buying a 4dr.. right now im debating between a 2004 audi a8L and the 06 gs300.. i had 2 gs400 before and loved them.. now i know the a8 is in a totally different class but what do u guys think. i know its a lexus forum so your prob going to say go for the lexus but need some opinions. is the gs300 quick enough? i was also looking at the m45 but dont like the styling.. also maybe the 05 ls430 but it seems like an old mans car and im only 22.. let me hear what you guys have to say.. thanks alot ..

give you had c5 and a gs400 before, and now with the a8l (v8) contender, the gs300 is slow....... personally i wouldn't recommend that at all. if you want, try to look for gs350, that's a much better machine power wise. if you want some spirited driving i wouldn't recommend ls430 neither

I have both 06 GS300 and 07 GS350. My wife drives to 300. Sheloves it when she gets a chance to drive my 350. She's always beaming about the power difference.
The 246 hp of the 300 is no slouch but the 305 hp of the 350 is a big difference.
The brakes are a big difference too. I hate the brakes on the 300. They aren't as stong and the pedal almost hits the floor. The 350 feels like performance brakes.

good point on the gs300 brakes, they are quite a bit weaker than the 350 brakes

about the a8l, i don't know if the 0-60 speed of that thing is about the same as the gs300 or what, but that car is a v8, especially on higher speed pick up, the v8 really shines

i would guess based on the other cars you mention, the gs300 isn't going to make you happy.

You're 22. At that age, you'd prefer sportier driving. I'd say the Audi. I've driven an A8 and it is much firmer and feels sportier than the GS300 that I have. The 3GS is a bit too soft on both ride & suspension dynamics, with a lifeless steering, even compared to the 2GS.

The A8 is a BIG heavy car...not much of a sport driving IMO.

OP: I'm somewhat in your shoes, im also 22 looking for a lexus, i cam from a 350z and when i test-drove the 300 it was too slugish for me, try looking for a gs430 (thats what im going for) if not 350...but IMO 300 will be toooo slow for ya
