weird gas fillup issue
I went to the gas station to fill up yesterday night and the weirdest thing happened... i'm not sure how to explain it but here goes...
I had about 1/8 tank left in my car.. started fueling like usual.. then fueling stopped all of a sudden, i thought the clip on the handle just let loose so i tried refueling... but it wouldn't fill up anymore and overflowed..
i wiped off the overflow and and started my car and it was only 3/4 tank full.
has anyone else experienced a problem with the gas tank not filling up all the way?
i'm going to try to put in more gas tomorrow to see if it was just a one time issue or if this is going to continue to be a problem..
any input would be great. thanks.

I had the same problem with my G35 sedan 4 times. It could be a problem with the cars fuel gage. It was a pretty common problem, amongst others with early first gen G35s, so you never know. I would have the dealership check it out. I once filled the thing up until a little spilled out because the tank was over filled, and still the gage told me I was right over 3/4

You most likely have a problem with the filler neck or a relief valve within the fuel tank. If you use additives in your gas tank, the bottle has a plastic cover that might have dropped in the neck and causing a gas backup when you are trying to fill up.

Had this happen the other day BUT... I was holding the pump in some odd way. It clicked off and I was like... "wtf, less then 20 bucks to fill up... i know gas was cheap but not dirt cheap!" then I came to my senses and figured it was some BS. Pressed the gas again and filled up a total of less then $40... that was FTW!!!
