Installation of Ipod Interface disables the SAT Radio?
I just bought an '08 GS450h today and had an Ipod Interface installed before I picked the car up. Unfortunately the Interface isn't working as I get both the SAT and Ipod playing when I plug in the IPOD.
I read in the Ipod Interface user guide that installation of the interface disables the SAT radio. Can anyone confirm this is true? If so, is this only when the Ipod is connected or always? Seems ridiculous that this would be the case; however, without an AUX channel to play the IPOD on seems like this may be the unfortunate case...
If so, I wish I would have known this as I definitely would not have sprung for the cost of the Lexus interface and just used the aux connector

Yes that is correct. It takes one or the other...Cant use them both. I agree its not the greatest feature for those who like to use both. Good news for you is that you can purchase something to allow them both to work
Go to the classified section and a vendor NavTool is selling a kit that will allow you to use both at the same time!

Hey Thanks for the info! I'll go check out the NavTool product!
Edit: By the way - I did do a search under the subject title: "Ipod Interface" but must have missed this somehow...

both scosche http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1476 and vais http://vaistech.com/ have ipod adapters that allow ipod and sat radio on separate inputs. ipod integrates via touchscreen.

I was really lucky as when I took the car back to Lexus they said it was their mistake and they should have advised me I would lose my Sat radio. So they installed a product by USASpec for free and now I have both...
I still have to read up on the USASpec interface as it does not seem to list the songs and categories on the Ipod as would be expected. They are all listed as Discs... I'll have to check into it and will post impressions. One would think that for Lexus to choose a brand of interface, it would be tried and tested to be one of the best...

If you don't get the emulation you are describing with what you have, both of the products I mentioned above will do so. they mimic sat radio setup but the buttons are options: Artists, Song, Album etc rather than preset stations. Both are compatiable with sat radio.

The Peripheral iSimple I got for my car is advertised to work with SAT even though it uses the AM/SAT switch. I believe you do have to purchase another module to connect to the iPod module.

I just can't believe Lexus would choose an interface that has no song titles or ability to view the songs in the various I-pod directories. The only option you get with this is to listen blindly to the songs on your Ipod.
I'm pretty disappointed to say the least!

Look at the demo video on this product. more like what you were expecting I think. I don't have it but am thinking about swapping out for it.
