mine was also fixed a few months back. Now that I drove to LA, with the horrible freeways, the rattle is back with a vengance. I thought it was the radar detector rattling. I took it down and still hear the rattle. When I push hard against the dash the rattle stops. It seems like it rattling at the top right side of the dash. This needs to be fixed. My car is dropped and on 30 profile tires, I need all of the vibration resistance that I should be able to get from a 50k lexus.

Out of curiosity, which repair was done?

Other than putting felt in the dash, there is a "windshield clip" TSIB #005-06 and they just did a "dash rattle from instrument panel sub-assembly" TSIB #0040-08 repair on my car.

I guess there's a good bit to understand about this, but it seems odd that when Lexus has identified more than one potential cause and repair for these noises, that they would have a technician do such a non-specific jury-rig as simply adding felt. You'd think if it called for felt, there would have been felt in there. A car that's making a noise presumably has a problem or flaw. The symptom of that problem is the noise. To fix the symptom potentially means the problem is still there. Dealing with it that way, in the extreme, ear plugs could be considered a "fix."

that is the next solution.

one can't keep bringing the car in for stupid noises.

the alternative is going German, but paying a lot for other repairs.

my GS has rattles now too, same place as you guys mentioned. Around the Drivers side dash, it's very annoying, rattles is one of the main reasons why I ditched my 95 SC to upgrade to a 3GS, I thought it'd be rattle free!!!

I don't even know if I want to bother to take it to the dealer since most of you say that they can't entirely fix the problem.

Maybe I'll just have to upgrade to the LS if this is the case.

I8ABMR,

Did the dealership give you any resistance in fixing your rattles since you're lowered on coilovers and low profile tires? I want to take mine in but just concerned that the dealer will attribute the cause to my springs and tires.

I would think those 30 profile tires would amplify the rattle problems.

Very true. I had the windshield creaking/rattling fixed a year ago, and now it came back in full force. The car has been at the dealership for the last 5 days. It better be rattle-free when I pick it up. Of course, the rattles will be back a year later....

Lol, I feel your pain. I use to have a full head of hair before I bought my GS
