Default Mark L system, can you actually play a DVD movie ?

Got my GS300 last week with the Mark L system. still learning the car.
I see that the label says DVD. Does it play a movie and if so how ?
Also, if it does, what controls pause, play, stop, etc ?

Thanks

Congrats on the new car and welcome! You can play a dvd. Using the standard system, I believe the car has to be in park with the parking brake on for video to show on the nav screen. the control buttons appear on the touch screen and include a hide button. There are several mods that allow video while moving. And many threads you can find via the search feature that discuss how to do that.

car doesn't need to be in park, just need to engage the parking break

but yes, 6 dvd changers, comes in handy with hacked nav

If you don't do the hack, you lose the screen while playing dvds when you release the parking brake and go out of "P". You still have the sound though coming out of the speakers though. Fine if you watch/listen to DVD concerts.

it's definitely a good feature to have if you have kids in the back seat

I downloaded some music videos then burned them on a DVD last week... Nice to play it with passengers in the car (esp at night heading towards the club)

It also plays DVD-A; although I am having some issues that Lexus is trying to track down.

But as others have said, it will play burned DVDs and Video CDs.

i meant if it is possible to write "mp3/wma" to some kinda audio file on a dvd, that can be read by the player. after all a dvd will hold a lot more of music than a normal cd
