Default Oil leak!!!

I have an 06 GS 300 w/ 47K...just took it in to have it serviced and they said it was leaking oil....said it had to do with some type of cap....not sure of the exact name...they said they have to take off the valve cover to get to it i believe....they also it is a common problem found in the 300's because it is a part that was poorly manufactured...anyone else have this problem?? Is this a big concern????

THANKS!!!!!

I had a similar problem. I took my car in to get an oil change and the service people told me there was an oil leak. I brought it into Lexus since it was still under warranty and they fixed it. Turns out there was a leak coming from the timing cover. Maybe this is the same problem with yours. While my GS was there I also had them fix the recall for the fuel rail on it also.

Hope this helps

reseal timing cover, updated valve cover bolts and new camshaft housings. it's a pretty big job. They'll probably have your car for a few days depending on availabilty of parts.

yeah it was a pretty big job. they had to lift the motor just to get to it. so my car was in there for a few days.

What's a fuel rail and what function does it affect?

A fuel rail is essentially a pipe used to deliver fuel to individual fuel injectors on internal combustion engines. It is designed to have a pocket or seat for each injector as well as an inlet for a fuel supply. hope this helps.

Definitely a recall or TSIB. Took my car in today. The service rep called it a campaign. Actually, there are 3. The brakes, the fuel rail and one more I can't remember. I told them to just fix it.
