I dropped off my car (for the second time) to fix rattles, and they said they had to also do the Fuel Pipe recall on it...

I read this thread and just realized that I had almost 3/4 of tank of gas in there when I dropped it off... should have waited...

I wonder if they need to drain the gas to change the fuel pipe or something?? Maybe that's why they just fill it up afterwards?

I got a 2009 ES350 loaner with 1k miles on it.. still has the new car smell.. and best of all- NO RATTLES!

Just dropped mine off today with an almost empty tank . I was told they will replace all three items and will take an entire day. A promised car wash was a nice addition. Got an 08 RX350 loaner for the day and am glad I own a GS. Will report once I get the car back.

haha this is what all us techs do ALL DAMN DAY!!!!!!!! lol fuel rails are a ***** and 1/2 lol. the injectors connectors are so brittle!!!!!! and all over the country techs are breaking them but Lexus only allows the dealerships to order only ONE A DAY! lol. stupid! but there are like 3 or 4 different kind of injectors. im in the middle of an IS250 at work. its pretty easy. just have to be REALLY careful lol.

Hi Box,
Can you give a run down of the steps to replace the EPS and Fuel Rails on a GS 430?
Thanks

It took only 2 days for Lexus of Las Vegas to get the parts for the recall. They called me on Friday afternoon to say that they wanted me to bring it in that day so that they could fix it on SATURDAY!!!!! Business must really be slow. Anyway, they promised to have it done by 4:00 Saturday, but at 3:00 they said that it was going slower than they thought and it wouldn't be ready until Monday. No problem for me as they gave me a 2008 IS250 loaner.

I picked it up at 2:00 on Monday, and it's great. The problem that I had with the steering has gone away, and they did a really nice job of washing the car. They did NOT fill it with gas....that must depend on the dealer. They do NOT do a complete alignment...they just reset the toe-in. And I saw the invoice amount....it wasn't close to $4,000...it was right at $2,500.

are the costs itemized, or is it just one lump sum?

if they were itemized, where is the bulk of the cost? the fuel rails?

i hope i don't have a gas leak after this repair

DNJ,
After repair, driving down the hw,, you might have flames to go with the smoke in your sig

You know,, those little orings are for jewelers not auto mechanics
