Default New Car and tire options..Runflats!!!

I'm probably buying a new 08 or 09 in the next couple of weeks and don't want runflats. I have heard that dealers will swap out the runflats for good performance tires no charge. Is this true? I heard runflats are actually more expensive and yes, I already have a donut spare. Thoughts

Thanks

only if the dealer is willing to do it, ask them to replace them as part of the deal

Definitely make it a condition of the purchase. Run flats are considered an 'upgrade' over the OEM 18" summer tires, so the Lexus dealer shouldn't have any problems with doing the switch out.

Dealer will do anything to cloase the sale, it cost them labor to change out the tires and restock the run-flats. That cost is usually pass onto you one way or another, nothing is free in life.

yes, agree. it shouldn't cost anything, runflats are more expensive anyway. but only do it if they are going to include a spare as well

They won't bother to dismount the tires. They'll just swap the entire wheel/tire w/another GS, then mark-up the other car with 'dealer installed' optional runflats - happens all the time.

my GS came with summer tires, not run flats. it seems US GS tend to go with run flats? or does it depend on area or location? anyone know?

Where I am, all the GS AWD have runflats, so they cant even swap with another GS if they wanted to.

Same here in Ohio, but the GM says he will try to swap the runflats to a used car and get the new tires destined for the used car. BTW, my deal is for $1000 over invoice on an 09 350AWD white/black. Nice car

$1000 over invoice is high, maybe the GM already consider his cost to change out your tire.

Really think its high for an '09? Don't think I can get anymore off. I was surprised to see Navi version 8.1 (the old one) still in the car. Am going to ask for ver. 9.1 installed free

8.1 is the newest one already, they are in 09 cars. 08 cars have 7.1 mostly

You're right, I think I got dyslexic on the 8.1, 08, 09 etc. I'm fairly certain this 09 had the 8.1. OK what are your thoughts? '08 red/tan (probably my second or third color choice)for $43K($9000 off sticker) or a 09 white/black (first choice color) for $48,400 ($1000 over invoice, $4500 off sticker. Or keep my '06 300 lease with residual of $25K, car worth about $22K. Fortunately, finances, job situation good

Thanks

My choice would be find a 09 with the color combo you want and offer them invoice. If they wont take the offer, try another dealer. Today is near the end of the month, dealers are trying to add to their month sales total, I would give them the invoice offer today, my bet is they will take it.
