Default Tires rubbing...front or rear??

I just installed the Tom's VP-S 19x8.5F and 19x9.5R +45 around with 245/35 and 275/30. I am running Tanabe Sustec Pro 5 coilover and now I am experiencing the rubbing issue. Here's my stupid question...how can I know its from the front or rear or both? I couldn't tell where it is coming from.

you shouldnt rub with that?? when do you hear this rubbing? over large dips in the road, going down or up a driveway, when the car is fully turned left or right??

tape some paper to the fenders.

whichever one is rubbing will either have tire marks or be ripped.

I heard the rubbing mostly when going over a large dip and making a right turn aggressively. I need to find out is the front or the rear first.

if you are rubbing when making hard turns, very likely it's the front. like dunno said, put masking tape along the edge of the fender and go drive, you will see.

I think its the liner then if its on hard turns and over larger dips. I am still surprised with the tires and offset that you are rubbing at all?? How low are you??

yeah, that's a surprise to me too. unless the offset is wrong...e39ng, did you look at your wheels and confirm that the offset is indeed +45? the offset should be stamped somewhere on the inside of the wheel

Yes...all 4 offset are +45 for sure. I don't think I set it very low. Here is the pic. Sorry for the crappy camera phone pics. The rear is still have like close to 1 finger space gap.

I dont know??

If I had to guess I would say its one of 2 spots, or well where I would look anyway...

check the blk trim piece on the rear fender panels and the tire to see if you can see any marks from it. I doubt its this but anything is possible.

next turn your rims all the way left & right and look at both sides of the liner when the are turned in each direction. If you are rubbing the liner you will see where. If thats the case its an easy fix with a heat gun and pushing it in.

please post back as I am curious now. I ordered rims and now I am doubting if they are going to work even when I trim the fenders :ugh:

Edit: does it seam like the drive side sits out farther then the passenger side rim? I just slapped on spacers (rears only) with the OEM rims as I had them sitting in the garage and wanted to see how it looked. Its dark and cold so I have to look at it again when its light out. If I was seeing clearly then this could be an issue...well I guess just check to be safe and rule it out.

i am very surprised too, those are very conservative offsets. only thing is 245 and 275 on 8.5 and 9.5, the tires are a bit more meaty on the wheel than say 9 and 10 inches wide wheels. but still with those offsets i don't expect rubbing

use the masking tape method to see where it is rubbing first and then see about solution

Me too...I am surprised too. I read so many posts here and I think my setup is very very conservative. Anyway I will try the masking tape method and see what happen.

do post back, will try my best to help

my wheels are way more aggressive than yours and i don't rub. when you turn very aggressively, are you talking about flat surfaces or ramps?

as rominl mentioned, use the masking tape first to see if there's rubbing. if there's no rubbing, you eliminate wheel offset as the problem. then the problem would have to be something else.

then the questions to ask would be: can you tell us something about your suspension? did you buy your coilovers brand new or used? did you check the shocks for any leaks? are you sure that the sound you hear is rubbing and perhaps not some other component of your suspension that is making noises? these are all remote possibilities, and need to be confirmed to rule out.
