what kind of oil to use
#16
I'll have to look at Costco next time I'm over there. I have two vehicles that take almost 7qt's of oil and I'm going to run Synthetic in both so the best deal would help me greatly. The GS300 does take 7qt's doesn't it? I haven't changed it myself yet the first one was done by the dealer, I didn't feel like doing it in the cold.

Is it a bad idea to switch back and forth between conventional and synthetic? Some of the dealers don't provide synthetic oil changes.
And has anyone tried synthetic blend?

I have read everyone about oil from all sides. To me it seems you are okay to switch back and forth UNLESS you have an older/high mileage vehicle where you do not want to use/switch to synthetic unless you have always used it.
Once you change the oil every 5k or so, you will be fine. As the engine gets older, I would recommend sticking to either synthetic or conventional.
I am a huge fan of Castrol and haven't had any issues with it in any Lexus and I've done my own oil changes in them for over 10 years. I have also used Pennzoil and Mobil one.
With the 450h, I haven't decided what I will use yet but I'm leaning toward synthetic.
