My Lexus dealership uses conventional as I just found out whereas the Acura dealership uses a synthetic blend. What's with that?! I'm going to buy my own oil at Costco and bring them with me to service!

Since I found out my dealer uses conventional oil, I have switched to full synthetic. Also, my two previous BMW's used full synthetic and required oil changes only every 10 -12,000 miles, per the computers. I thought this interval was too long, and changed oil every 7500 miles. However, now that I'm using full synthetic on the GS, I also plan to change oil and filter every 7500 miles vs. 5000.

i plan on following lexus's recommended service maintenance interval. if i am getting my oil changed regularly, does it really matter whether it is conventional or synthetic?

I'd get synthetic if you bought your car and you plan to keep it for awhile.

I bet all those little Corollas in the Toyota commercials with 300,000 doesn’t use synthetic oil. The oil companies spend a lot of money on marketing, unless you live in extreme cold or hot climates, synthetic oil is extra protection you do not need.

Surprised here as well. I believe my dealership uses a blend and not full synthetic.
