dust free pads...installed after only 450 miles after I bought my 2008 new.
i just could not stand the amount of dust on my wheels after 8 miles roundtrip to work each day. granted, my drive is 100% stop and go, a $50K car should not have this problem.

It's not really a problem, it is just a high friction pad that wears faster than the dust free pads. Some other luxury cars (BMW, Benz, Audi, etc...) have the same type of pads and they give off lots of dust.

As it was said above, squeaking happens on both dustless and OEM brakes. Squeaking is caused by wearing of shims; it was confirmed by Corporate Lexus and part of their official TSIB fix. Seems that East Coast gets accelerated "wear" due to our weather elements
Had my dustless brakes for 30k miles and couldn't be happier. As soon as they wear out, replacement going to be the same. Actually from what I read on this forum, original dustless breaks TSIB (the one I got early in 2007) has been replaced with a new one and updated brake pads should have a better performance.

Nice timely thread..would like to hear the thoughts of others..i've been debating lately if i should bring my car to the dealership for this TSIB..my brakes work great, but my rims turn dark gray a few weeks after i've washed the car.

Gotta keep these two problems separated. Not happy with a ton of dust on your front wheels - get dustless pads (free under TSIB). Got squeaking brakes - get new shims (free under TSIB).

I plan to stick with OEM, and take the braking performance along with the dust.
One advantage of all the snow this winter has been that it keeps the wheels cleaner....
