Default GS350 won't go into reverse???

My 2007 GS350 AWD started acting up today. It is stuck in my driveway because when I put it into reverse it acts like it is in neutral. Engine revs but the car won't move (I can still go forward though)! I was driving it earlier today and I noticed it was driving strangely. As I was accelerating it felt like it was downshifting on me and I felt resistance and the car slowed. When I got home, I decided to take it to the dealership but now I can't reverse out of my driveway. Any ideas (besides a tow truck)?

Damn.....that is really strange. Just put it in Neutral and push it out of your drive way and take it to the dealership.

I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't thought of that... not sure I trust that the car will make it to a dealership with the way its been acting today though.

i agree with EyeKutr...call roadside because you don't want to risk more problems driving the car in that condition.

this is weird. i was thinking it's a trasmission problem, but seems very unlikey for car being pretty new.

although transmission problems are unlikely on a new car...they do happen. my dad had to have his entire transmission replaced on his brand new 2008 Corvette. Needless to say he was pissed and tried everything he could to get GM to take the car back. He's happy now and hasn't noticed any ill effects, so if replacing the transmission is necessary....make sure you take it to a dealer that can do the job correctly. best of luck.

Lexus should take care of it under warranty. Is the car fully stock or has it been modified? Get it towed. How many miles on the car and did you buy it new or pre-owned?

Car was bought new (no modifications). Only 17,000km on it. Just called roadside they are coming to get it... A few guys I work with seem to think it is a transmission fluid problem. Personally I have no idea... I'll find out later today from Lexus.

Something like this happened to me on my 2003 2GS a year ago. I thought it was gonna be big money to get it fixed. Needless to say I was pissed becuase it was out of warranty. I found a local shop and it must have been my day becuase it only cost me $75!! Turned out it was a pin that fell out connecting the shifter to a piece on the tranny. Had it back to me the very next day and drove no problems till I sold it..Maybe its the same thing on yours...

An update in case anyone ever has a similar problem...

My GS has been at the dealership for 2 weeks now! Still waiting for a new transmission to arrive. They say a piece of metal got loose and destroyed my transmission. It is covered by warranty as the car is only 2 years old. 2 weeks plus to just get the part to a Lexus dealer? Not impressed...

hey, it's better than waiting 6 months to get wheels from japan.

2 weeks is nothing.
your expectations are too high. they don't have transmissions lying around in stock.
