Default ML DVD players play any other formats?

Yes I did search and came up pretty empty, do I really have to convert all these avi, mpeg to dvd files to play in our cars?

^ I tried it on my IS350 and it did not work for me. It may have been something that I did wrong but I tried a movie and music videos and neither worked but worked on my DVD player in the home.

^ I am not sure how the DVD on the GS will work, but from other cars I know that you have to mod it in order to have it play videos while driving. Simple mod but require some electronic skills.

I got that part done. Just curious if it will read the burned disc. I wonder if I did it wrong in the past or it just won't work? Thanks!

DVD's are formatted as .VOB while VCD's are formatted as .avi so I don't see any reason why the player won't play .avi files while it'll play vcd's. Best is to look for a program that will change your files to a vob file. Lots of free programs online. Just have to search in the right place. Once I get home, I'll post the program that im using.

Perhaps I am stating the obvious, but because of compression (or lack thereof), once you convert to MPEG2 .vob files you will only be able to store about 2 hours of video on a single layer DVD. (4.7 GB of video in xvid/divx MPEG4 format will yield significantly more than 2 hours of video.) But that's why we have 6 DVD changers right?
