Driver's Side Headlamp Cuts Out
Recently, I've been experiencing a problem with my driver's side headlamp. While I am driving, the lamp will turn off, leaving me with only one working light. To get it working again, I have to switch my lights off and back on.
The problem is intermittent. On average, the light goes out about three times a week. Sometimes, I am not even aware that I'm driving with just one headlight.
I addressed the issue when I took my car to Lexus Santa Monica for its 45K service. Unfortunately, I was told they are unable to duplicate the headlight problem. Therefore, they are unable to proceed with the repair. I even showed the adviser a picture of my car with the headlight out, but apparently that's not good enough.
My adviser said he'd call me the following week, but I have not heard from him. I left him a voice message, but still no call back. I am now going to see if I can get better service at Keyes Lexus in Van Nuys.
With my warranty close to expiring, I am concerned that Lexus may not cover the repair if the dealership cannot duplicate the problem in time. Any advice?

Lexus Fanatic
someone here had the same problem before. someone suggested to switch the L/R light bulbs, and see if the opposite side goes out. then you would know it's a bad bulb
as long as the complaint is documented before 50k, you should be able to get lexus to fix it should it happen after warranty has expired.
so make sure you get the complaint logged on paper at the dealer, and you have a copy in your hand. even if it says 'unable to duplicate'.
you may need to fight with lexus HQ, worst case.
next time your light cuts out, get out a video camera and record it..... should you ever need to sue their asses. These lights are expensive.
