I fell in love with the new CLK and I just wish Lexus would come up with an answer. It would definately be on my wish list.

it would be a huge money loser. lexus has the worst luck with coupes

GS sales = 1500/month
GSc = 500/month probably.
at best it would = sales of the SC.

And they would probably only come through the JAX port...so the whole northern half of the US would be SOL.

Well, GS alone is having some sales problems. As I was saying in the Car Chat section, I think Lexus should seriously reconsider their ES ~ GS strategy. Not too many agree with me on this, but ES is killing GS sales. You just can't have 2 cars of the same class, one or the other will suffer. Unless, Lexus does not really care much about GS.

Genesis Coupe
G37 Coupe
BMW 3 Series Coupe
Audi Coupes
CTS coupe

Why not and all the above{not sure about the CTS] are on the smaller side so if they made it with more room then those I think it could be pretty cool.

I agree.

Not only that but the Avalon is totally in the wrong position too. For the price of a loaded Avalon, you can get a nicely equipped Lexus. I personally don't see many GSs on the road (not complaining). It may be that most people looking to buy a Lexus see the $50K price tag and settle on the ES...being that the inside of the GS is much smaller. No offense to anyone, but ES drivers tend to be older ladies.

I will definitely look at a GS-F, if they eventually come out with that. I just hope they wait till the GS4 to do it.

lexus is more practical than all the other brands.
they'd rather sell more of fewer models, than a few of many

other brands have coupes in every price range. and they've been established for a long time.

i doubt lexus can come up with something exciting enough to penetrate the coupe market.
just look at the IS-c. god awful.

I think having the GS and the ES in the lineup can work. But the gap is too narrow. Lexus needs to give the GS its bread and butter. It needs to have a sophisticated variable suspension with excellent handling with lots of tech. On the same end, I don't think it would hurt if Lexus removed Radar Cruise and the more upscale items from the ES. Lexus should also make the GS's Mark Levinson system close to the LS's. More items to that extent could make the two work well together.

On another note, Lexus also really needs to up the ante with the GS. I love mine to death, but I shouldn't have to buy the top of the line GS to match the 535i. Similar to what happened in 1989, they need to make their cars the best and more reasonably priced. This will be quite a feat but I have faith.

they need to pump more HP out of the 460. If they can get over 300 ponies out of the V6...they should be able to get 400 out of their V8.

I would have bought the 460, just didn't see the extra 40HP worth the extra $6-8K.

The problem with the GS is that it does everything ok but excellent at nothing. Its like a jack of all trades, but a master at none. The young people complains about it and the older owners are not happy either. They need to target a age group and make the GS either sportier or more Luxurious. Since they already have the LS, then they need to target the younger owner who wants a bigger car than the IS, the middle age should be their main target and the older owners that is a teenager at heart. The GS needs much better handling, maybe an active suspension standard, faster accelaration, more headroom and a design that doesnt look like every other Lexus. IMO the GS look too much like the ES and the IS.

the next 5 series will have most of the stuff from the 7 series. It's like a smaller 7 series clone.

the GS doesn't have any extra features over the ES. That's why the GS seems like a ripoff.
there's a 7500$ difference between a comparably equipped GS and ES.

I'm waiting for the day when bmw will have consistent longterm reliability. Then i won't think twice about switching over. i keep my cars fora long time

for now, I think a lot of people buy lexus because it is $10000 cheaper than the germans, and it's reliable for the longterm. There's nothing else going for it.

like the decade old argument... you are not paying 6-7k for the 460 just for the extra hp...

Actually, with the removed the door handles and the lines (this looks very similiar to the five axis GS460 concept)

dunnojack can probably do a photoshop that makes it looks more like a coupe
