What are your plans? Are you staying with Lexus family or getting something else once the lease is up or car is paid off? I just got mine last year, so I still have 3 more years to go (im not leasing). My previous car was also a GS, 2nd gen, which I liked a lot. Mainly for its design. Well, to be honest, I'm not really sure if I like where Lexus designs are going. I know its too soon to talk about the newly designed GS. Thing is, the new RX just does not look right to me
and I really hope that the new GS/IS/LS will not look anything like it. Yout thoughts ?

I think Lexus have take this L-finesse thing far enough, It’s time for a change in design direction. In fact the whole Lexus division needs to be re-ramp. All those years of deep cost cutting have finally caught up to them. They need to go back and re-visit every single cost cutting measure. Put quality first, then cost 2nd. A plastic part may save Lexus $2 per vehicle, but a metal part is much more solid and will not rattle and squeak. I do like where the Lexus power train division is heading. They have continued to improve year after year on their power train. I just wish their handling can keep up with their power train, but then again Lexus have always been behind in handling performance.

Without a doubt, the new Mercedes E-Class. As soon as the prices are reasonable I will jump on one. I'm done with the Lexus rattles and squeaks. I would MUCH rather deal with an electrical problem than any kind of rattle which a MB just does not have.

German cars are much more reliable than in years pass. If you look at the relaibility surveys, the most reliable car compare to average is not that much better. The whole industry as a whole have gotten better at making reliable cars.

I'm going back to BMW. I had an 01 M5. I miss it dearly. It had some electrical issues but the car rides like no other. Even at 7 years old it felt more solid and was rattle free. I'm going to an E60 M5 or 550i - a used one. The Lexus just doesn't cut it. I am disappointed.

I am done with Lexus for a long time. Their cost cutting has tarnished the GS image in terms quality of parts of dependibility. I am planning on getting the 2010 new E350 4 Matic this July when lease is up. I am impress with Mercedes latest quality. All my mercedes have been perfect even in the first year of life cycle in the past few years.

Corvette Z06 Black or Red, staggered 20's in the front 22's in the rear...extra wide lip in the back....or a BMW 650 Convertible, fully rimed up...or MB S550...those are nice too...

I want something with a stock FI... AWD, probably station wagon.
The reason is whenever my Tahoe or 3GS craps out (accident, major problems, etc.), I am just going to drive the other one to the ground or trade it in and combine both vehicles into one. And therefore I will be looking for room/utility as well as performance...
Perhaps an Audi Avant of some sort.

I'm surprised at the comments - I've been considering replacing my IS350 w/the GS460, but I have never driven one yet so I cannot contest to the complaints. But, it makes me concerned that there are so many complaints about the interior breaking apart; as my IS350 is very rock solid - but not perfect [what car is]. I do have interest in the A6S as well.
Not sure if 2010 will be a redesign year for the GS as well that may be worth waiting for, which may address some of these issues.
