Default Navigation issues?

Hey everyone,

I have a 2009 Lexus GS350 AWD. I'm noticing that when I use the navigation system it always takes me on the scenic route. Even if I have an idea of where I'm going and I get on the highway it re-directs me back to the streets. Does anyone else have this problem? How change I change this? Thanks!

that's why you are given 3 choices when you input the address...

you can pick the shortest, quickest, or another choice and like rominl says, make sure you know what options you have chosen.

read the manual if you haven't, 99% of the issues people posted are user error

Does the new GS have traffic nav on the system? Do any of the Lexus cars have it? That is, identify congestions spots so you can avoid it?

I find it ridiculous that the 2008 GS doesnt have it. I use a GARMIN and never use the Lexus navi due to this.

no, and yes, LS/LX both have it

makes no difference for me actually, I usually just use google map on my blackberry for traffic update.

and now also the RX

doesn't really matter to me neither. i don't think the nav traffic is that accurate. it's good at times but sometimes it says congestion when i am one of the new cars on the freeway.

Hmmm...thanks guys. I just purchased a "lifetime" subscription to Garmin's traffic nav service for $60.

It is very useful for me...seems quite accurate. Never tried the google traffic before.

Just try to pick your route and make sure the setting is right. you can pick "most use of highway or something."

Right, be sure on the choices section you select allow use of toll roads interstates etc. I if i recall, ours came delivered with some options deselected. the first few times we used it, it avoided some main roads.
