gs350 xenon light going out on one site question
When I turn on my lights, both lights go on, then the drivers side goes off. When I brought my car into Lexus for a quick look (It goes in today for repairs) they think its the bulb. What do you think?
Are they just saying that so I have to pay for it? I mean, the light goes on. But goes off. Sounds like a balist(sp) or something. That should be covered uner warrenty?

Really? He made it sound like a chargable item like wiper blades. It could be that service check-in guy too. He told me they would have to remove my light and bumper to replace it. But I know you just need to move the air filter to reach it. Maybe he mean the ballest.

they "think"? can they do any better. the right way is to swap the light bulbs left and right and confirm if the problem is the bulb or the ballast. if it's the ballast, for sure it's warranty. if it's the bulbs, honestly it's debatable. you give me an hid bulb and if i turn it on and off very quickly, i guarantee i can kill it very fast. so i think it's dealerships call if the bulbs are under warranty.

So if I video'd the lights before hand, where it turns on/off at least I can say it was like that b4 their techs got to it?
If you recall my other posts, it seems every time I got in, something else happens.

I know if one try hard enough, they can burn out any type of bulb. With the more advance HIDs systems, under normal use, even if turn on and off quickly a few time, there is a warm start circuit in the ballast to protect the bulb. It should not burn out after one year of use. HID bulbs should last 2000 to 2500 hours.

BAD BULB !!! ... when a bulb usually turn on and off, that's a sign that the bulb is about to got out SOON. Switch the two bulb around and if the same bulb still have issue...bad bulb.

I have the same problem with my aftermarket 6000K ones, they are brand new, the drivers side light goes out when I first put them on, then i click it off and on and it stays on until i shut the car off. Then i do the same process. It might be a bad bulb, i never had that problem with my factory bulbs though.

Yay. They fixed it. said the electronics in the the bulb?? went bad. Replaced bulb and all is ok. As long as it didn't cost me, I'm not gonna argue. I never knew there was electronics in the bulb.

For posterity in case someone reads this in the future, If they give you "it's the bulb" issue, then just swap out the bulbs side to side and see if issue follows the bulb. If it doesn't then it's obviously not he bulb and would definitely be on their nickel.
