Default LED Turn Signals - Not bright enough!!!

Okay - so who here has done an LED turn signal mod that has decent brightness in daylight???? I have done the mod, however, the bulbs, which I thought were fairly bright and had excellent distribution of light, don't work well in the rear... GREAT in front, no so good in back....

Anyone here with a link and/or recommendation?

what do you mean? you mean the part visible from behind....the part that protrudes out the side is what is visible from the rear....they are plenty bright in night, remember this is a safety feature and if theyre behind you, they will see your tail blinkers anyways right? BTW all the covers are made by the same people i think....theyre all the same....would you actually even consider swapping the whole thing out to get them to be brighther, I would not....

No - let me explain... I need a brighter bulb, or a bulb that better generates light for the particular type of reflector housing using in the GS. My bulb does not disburse light in a way that works well in daytime. If I take the bulb OUT of the housing, it is literally blinding... but in the housing, apparently much of the light is lost by the type of reflector and lens. So, I need an LED bulb with a different design that distributes light differently.

Any suggesitons?

What kind of LED design are you using and what kind of housing does the rear signal light use?

Okay - I'm not talking mirror, I'm talking REAR turn signal... the design I used is:

www.autolumination.com: Matrix III LED (Amber 7440)

Forward and side facing LEDs...

Ah sorry, I did not realize taking out a bulb and putting in an LED one was considered an LED turn signal mod .....LOL, leave it to me to complicate things....

Not sure that's legal... I would like to stick with Amber as it's less likely to get me pulled over.

Nope - it's a G3, so it's clear.

You should try a more powerful LED bulb. The LEDs on the bulbs you mentioned are pretty dinky.

These are 11W each.

Thanks, but I don't buy the 11w claim ;-). If that was the case, it would draw more current than the 5w bulbs filament bulbs that are OEM spec'd.... I believe we wouldn't even need a load resistor to prevent the bulb out indication. Nonetheless, I do need a brighter LED - I just order a bulb with 47 individual LEDs... we'll see how that works.

In my experience, less high powered LEDs make more light than many smaller low power LEDs. Hope those new bulbs work out for you. Post some pics when you get them installed.
