Ok 1st of I will say i have installed car starters/stereos for 4 years so im not a noob.

My 06 gs300 came with factory XM. the XM antenna was mounted on the rear dash by the rear dash brake light. In some parts of my city ( where there is nothing blocking the signal) the XM cuts out for a quick second the comes back in then cuts out again ......Im not paying for a signal that cuts in and out.


I would like to know if anybody else is having this problem I moved the antenna to on top of the roof and of course it never cuts out, but i dont want a 40000$ car having a ugly *** ant on top of the car.

has any one drilled a hole on there roof and used a hollow sharks fin antenna to hide there xm one? Or is there a new type of antenna i can use with my factory unit to keep the xm unit from cutting out?

You can get the sharkfin antenna from the 07, some people have experienced what you have and in the past they had purchased an antenna to be put on the trunk lid. I would get an OEM sharkfin and drill it to the roof.

I have similar issues and my car came with the xm antenna on the trunk. Its ugly and sucks!

I have the OEM sharkin and plan to install it one of these days.

where did u get the oem fin from ( whats the part number ) and how much did it cost you.

I have looked a bit online and from what i have found it says that i have to have a ML sound system for the antenna to work Is the connection the same from the xm pioneer box in my trunk to the 07 sharkfin?

The fin has nothing to do with ML. Its strictly for the XM radio. What color is your car?

i just purchased one from the dealer it came out to 160 something and comes painted just give them your color code which is located on the drivers door panel under the vin im still debateing on how im going to do mine im trying to figure out how to it w/o removing the headliner figured if i get a half inch drill bit short enough i can just make the hole fish it out and just use double sided tape with one of those water resistent rubber covers goa try this this fri ill try to post a dyi if it works

^ you need to remove the headliner to install, don't guess as there are cross support bars and if you hit in the wrong spot it wont work and cause you more work and headaches. If you don't feel confident take it to a body shop or custom stereo shop and get it done.

its not that its just i hate taking off headliners they never fit back the same but ill do it if your saying it has to be done i see your selling yours what happended changing your mind

^ yea I am killing the XM in this car. I dont use it anymore and they changed my fav channel with the merge. I have been going for FREE for some time because of it and I still havent changed my mind. Not sure I want to do all that work if I am not keeping the service anymore. I know I want that thing off my trunk for sure

my car is white pearl can u take a picture of the xm connector on the sharkfin so i can make sure it will work ...i have bad luck with things like that

where to I get the extension wire that goes between the XM box in the trunk to the sharksfin?
