Hey, I have been looking at the K & N Typhoon intake. I was wondering if it really increased the car by 18HP and if is worth the $282.00. Or should I stick with my stock drop in K & N?

Google "cold air intake filter tests", "intake filter tests", this will give you TONS of scientific , independent tests/reviews on almost all aftermarket cold air intake filter. I mentioned "independent" tests because all you see are self claim performance figures which are normally (some outrageously) embellished.
Before you throw away $282.00 research and find out if it is worth it. Who knows the cheaper ones perform the same.
I doubt you can pull 18hp JUST from an intake update (regardless of brand, and type)
BTW, be weary of "oiled" type filters. I belong to a Porsche group and there are numerous documented reports of MAF failures due to excessive oiling (verify online).

realistically, the hp gains are about 4-8, MAYBE 10. 18 might be at the crank, but by the time it makes a difference you don't gain much. After my prior tuning experiences, tiny hp gains aren't worth the time or effort. Now if you're looking for an aggressive growl when you take off, then spend away

K&N shows that there is an 18 hp increase at 5700 rpm.
Here is the Dyno sheet:

K&N does some pretty thorough testing on their products. We carry most of their products in our shop and we have a sale thread on the typhoon intakes now. Very high quality.

Well the SRT intake does fit the 3gen GS so that is an option and a much larger pipe. We also have the FSport stuff as an option soon. All depends on what you are looking to do with the car. I personally wanted the sound from the V8 and to gain a little extra so I went with the SRT and will get the car tuned for it.
