AFS working
Bought used GS 300. Window sticker shows equipped with AFS headlights. While riding in friend's GS last week, could actually see the headlights turning while driving. My car doesn't appear to do that. The AFS light on instrument panel is not lit but the button does work and when pushed, shows AFS off. Should I be able to tell if the AFS is working?
Thanks

your should be able to tell when you take a quick turn... A good way to test it, is driving at night and get on the highway on-ramp that has the long looping curve road and see if you can tell if your lights move... Other than that I would say take it to your local dealership to see if anything is wrong with it ?

The driver side and the passenger side turns at different amount of degree, I forget which one is greater and its speed sensitive. With that said, I would never see my headlight turn on my GS while I am in the driver seat. The European cars have greater degree of turns and you can actually see it more. Some cars have the AFS and a side corner light that actually lights up when you make a turn.
The best way to tell if your AFS is working or not is when you start up your car at night, the headlight should do a self test dance. If it goes up and down, then its working.

the right one turns more, 15 degrees i think, with 5 degrees on the driving side. i see it turn every night when i take the same ramp
but yes, if you want to see if your afs is working, start up your car with headlights on facing a wall and see if they adjust / calibrate

Another way to see the swivel is to drive down a street at a moderate speed (40 km/h or about 25 mph) and turn the steering wheel side to side in a controlled manner (obviously with no other cars around). You should see the beam swivel side to side.

i have this on my 06 300 and like mentioned a good way to test it out is on a dark road, turn your wheel side to side while driving (obviously not to much causing you to crash) you should notice the lights go back and forth. i only notice it every once and while when i drive, depending on which way i take to work.
