Inconsistent finish in '06-'07 18" wheels?
Hello 3GSers
I bought a set of the '06-'07 3GS 18" wheels from farkas a few weeks ago and realized that two of the wheels are a bright silver finish and two of them are a darker finish.
Please see the pics here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/whe...and-tires.html
If you look at them, the top two are noticeably darker than the bottom two and this difference is apparent in person. I was wondering if anyone else has ever come across a difference in these wheels or might know what caused it?
I noticed that Sewell offers two different 3GS wheels, standard alloy and one called carbon metallic. Were the wheels offered like this from the factory?

I have seen both the standard alloy and the graphite or what you are calling Carbon Metallic. The carbon metallics are a good bit darker. As far as I know the darker ones were not available in 06, but I have seen them on cars at the dealer. Do you think you got a mixture? The color is really not that close at all. Not apparent or I can not tell from the pictures.
One thing I can point out about these wheels is that they are painted with a clear coat and the finish is very very soft. Nice look, but the finish is very soft and thin.
I have had eight plus of the lighter aluminum alloy rims on a table and never noticed a color discrepancy. Other issues, but not color.
Hope this helps

Dude, those are two different wheels....two are the standard alloy, two are the carbon metallic. Now you just need two of whichever type you like more....I prefer the carbon metallic (gunmetal) ones myself.
Good luck.
