Default Buyers right. car I bought was found under autocheck to have "frame damage"

I didn't even know what autocheck was until someone from acurazine.com brought it to my attention. I took the VIN number to lexus and ran a check on it and they didn't see anywhere it was taken in to a dealer or anyone to have any body work done to it. it was run though reynolds and reynolds and nothing. also clean carfax. Even the lexus dealship said they could give me an extended warranty on it. How is all of this possible (warranty) if it has frame damage, and anyway to take it back or could autocheck be wrong?

autocheck is usually more accurate than carfax.

Default how does frame damage effect warranty

I can still get lexus warraty with the frame damage?? that is what they said she handed me a card looked up all the info with the VIN and said I was eligible. my concern is that I dont' want things not working on that thing due to whatever happend before. the car drives straight and no rattles, I can't tell it was in a wreck at all. looks brand new.

That sucks man. You can take it to a body shop and see if they can see signs of damage

In one of your other threads I was trying to let you know carfax is worthless for reporting prior or current damage. AutoCheck is not foolproof either.

Another sign is that Lexus did not pick it up at auction. Where is the Autocheck report? There is a good chance that the frame damage was found at the auction and that is how it may of showed up on the Autocheck report.

Unibodies are easily damaged in crashes. A good shop can tell you if the damage was repaired correctly. One tail sign it is not: If the car can not be aligned or to get a good alignment extra hardware was added. Sorry to hear about you misfortunate issue.

Oh, do you know were the damage was? Did you find those vin sticters?

Default vin etc

I looked around and couldn't find the VIN numbers on the door or anything. (NOT sure where they are suppose to be) the car had to be able to be aligned because before I bought the car I took the VIN to the lexus dealership to run a check on it and it brought up everytime it was in there and what was done. No reports of body work etc. It was even aligned and tires rotated at the dealership. if the car was not able to be aligned it should have been in the report that the lexus people looked at. I even have them agreeing to give me an extended warranty. So if anything major was done to the car they wouldn't even allow me to have a warranty. I don't get it?

Just because it has been wrecked does not mean they will not sell you an extended warranty. I suspect though, if something fails do to the wreck, they very might reject the warranty claim.

Since you called the dealer, do their records show the recall campaigns being completed? The steering rack replacement requires an alignment to be performed. You might ask the dealer if will print out the work history and you might get lucky and the previous owner’s name might be on it. Then you can look him up and give him a call and see if he will answer questions.

The VIN stickers on all four doors: Open the door and follow the edge of the door all the way down toward the bottom. Where the painted part widens at the bottom you should find one of those black stickers. I would find it very odd if they were missing all four doors.

I think in some states if the auctioneers notice damage to the car, they have to disclose that information. Autocheck must have access to that data.

Check you VIN with the following site provided by the insurance companies and see if you find anything.

Default car check

I had my mechanic look at the car and couldn't find any frame damage and the VSC check light indicated a loose gas cap

What kind of mechanic is he? Does he specialize in frame work?

Did you call the prev. owner?

I can't find the other guy that had the car, the guy that looked at it owns his own shop (he didn't have another guy look at it, he did) he does all of my work. He is a regular mechanic and also has a body shop next to his shop.
